As for Burrow, perhaps it because he's faced no real great defensive test yet but he's seemed to get even better as the year has gone on while the expectations about him have grown, the mark of a very good QB.

There is going to be another tankfest for pick 1 in 2021 for Lawrence.

Another tankfest?

The teams that were supposedly tanking this year didn't end up at the top of the draft. I don't think anyone thought the Bengals were going into the season tanking. As opposed to the Buccs, who everyone is convinced were tanking, who are currently in the back half of the draft order. Even the Dolphins are currently 5th.

3 or 4 of the top 6 in the current draft order think they already have their QB for the next 4-5 years anyway, which is the only reason you'd tank.

Dolphins struck out because they appointed one of the next great HCs who was able to inspire a terrible roster and situation. Very unlucky. 😂 Don't reckon I've seen ever seen a team attempt to tank so hard.

They didn't do a very good job of it...

Hoping the Panthers are personally. 😉

Reckon Caff alone puts you put of that discussion.

Dolphins traded like a tram in tank mode...

Too many moving parts to outright tank to the #1 pick in the NFL. You've got get unlucky wth injury and have a really shit roster. Which made Flores' job all the more remarkable. The dolphins were trading away as much talent as possible and throwing the talent they did have left on IR even when they could have played out the season (Xavien Howard)

Secretly hoping he gets injured in the preseason and is out for the season, seems a waste to put more hits on a star running back when you aren't winning anything. Much like Saquon.

I heard on the ATN podcast that they'd had more players active on Sundays and made more waiver claims than any team ever. That would suggest to me that they were actively trying to throw things at the wall and see what stuck so they could improve the roster.

And if you're tanking, don't you play Rosen - a 2nd year player that you can say you're developing - over Fitzpatrick, who is known to scrap himself out of shitty situations?

I dunno man. I don't really care that much either. I just think tanking is talked about in a manner that is waaay disproportionate to how much it actually happens. Honestly, you're a moron if you do it - it kills team culture, and you do all that when there's no guarantee that your QB works out. Without going back and looking at it, I doubt top 5-10 QBs are batting much better than a 50% success rate over the last few years.

Flores is coaching to win, that doesn't mean the front office isn't going about trying to make winning as hard as possible.

Yeah the FO tried to tank, but Flores and the players have done a great job. Both can be true!

No reason for Flores, Fitz or the players playing for their future not to try their hardest, but they’ve had essentially a practice squad most of the season. Not to mention that assuming the Pats beat them today they’ve had to play two 10+ win teams in division, and the Ravens for a quick 0-5. Makes the task even harder!

Fins will probably draft Tua and then you've probably got bolts and colts taking hurts and Herbert.

who’s next to take Lawrence? Panthers, Falcons, lions, broncos, jags?

Broncos a good shot if no progress with Lock next year but they should be ok.

agree with your list generally - add Steelers? Bucs?

Clemson should provide a greater test for him, but barring a championship game implosion, he'd surely be a lock now, especially with the Bengals on the clock.

Depends on who takes a QB this year though.

Who's likely to not take a QB this year, but still be shit enough to tank to #1 next year? Skins? Chargers? Lions?

Jags?

geez the buckeyes were getting ripped off all game by the officials. first non-td call very costly, settled for 3. the sack turned to targeting, wtf. and then the fumble td overturned.

still, they got to the lead eventually abd had a shot right at the end to win it

but the game couldve blown out had those earlier calls gone their way, and clemson might have folded

wtf happened in the Alamo Bowl? Looks like unranked Texas destroyed #11 Utah
Texas are better than what theyre non-ranking appears to be. They had a good 2018 and were looking to elevate this year, but had some Xs and Os issues this year.
