Not as bad as a member at our golf club...ambulance was called and everything because he’d thought he’d been bitten by a snake, turned out he’d been spiked by a stick. :p
Apologies for a long, boring OT story but that reminded me of something...

Watched a presentation from some sports psych guru talking about handling pain.

Talked about a bloke out bushwalking. Through thistles, grass, rocks, shrubs, desert, hills, miles and miles. Finished the hike... hmm leg a bit sore. That night - very sore. Went to the doctor and it turned out that he'd been bitten by a snake. Hadn't realised. Couldn't tell the difference between the general scrapes and cuts from the foliage and the snakebite.

Year or so later bushwalking again. Pain! Panic stations, I got bitten by a snake! Collapsed, rapid breathing, body shut down, rushed to hospital in a bad way. Turned it was nothing, scratch from a thorn or something.

I forget the explanation but something about mind over matter, convincing yourself you're not tired or sore or injured or whatever.

Righto... play on.
