It will have to be a live trade to make sure Melbourne don’t bid at 3, if they do they GWS will match and trade picks back for more points.
This entire trading picks after a bid is just another example of how stupid the AFL is. What a farce that clubs can just avoid using the actual system the way that it is supposed to be and get high end talent without paying a fair price.

Adelaide will swap 4 for 6 with GWS and if a bid comes for Henry before Freo's pick 10 they will trade it out for more points, if no bid comes for Henry they still use their pick on one of the mentioned players. To get one of the mentioned mids we need McAsey and or a bolter to go top 10.

Really hope that happens then, desperately want one of Kemp, Robertson or Stephens.

Couldn't agree more with the above...Its just plain stupid and contrived...
Think the best approach is to keep what we have and if all our targets are snapped up before our first pick we trade out to a GC or Geelongs/ Port who both seem dead keen on McCasey and split the picks as best we can and still hope to pick up a Rivers, or Bergman, as well as a Pickett with the second...

I mentioned last night that we should look to move pick 11 & 42 for Ports picks 16 & 18. The question would then be is pick 30 and 54 enough to snag Maginness. Depending on who's left we could then draft two of either Cody Weightman, Kysaiah Pickett, Will Gould, Josh Worrell or Brodie Kemp if he slides and then snag Maginness with our leftover picks. Any combo of the guys in bold to go with Maginness would be an awesome refreshing of our young stocks.

The only problem I think would is be getting a team like Port or Geelong to part with 2 late 1st rounders for picks 11 & 42. I guess it would also depend on how badly those teams would want to move up 5-6 slots but it's not beyond the realm of possibility if they have there eye on someone. This to me weeks of a live trade on draft night. I'm starting to get nervous with draft creeping up.
Sweet Jesus no!

. Finn will attract a bid around pick 16

. We finally have a decent pick in the draft, we need to use it, not trade it

. I’m hoping we trade out next years first for another pick this year, and a future second

We need to land a top end mid in either Kemp/Stephens/Robertson as well as Finn, to work with JOM/TOM/ Worps/Wingard just for starters

I want two of them.

Talk of us trading 30 to Richmond for future 2nd. Just gotta find someone who'll take our future first for their current 1st (maybe Richmond again who knows?)

As much as I don’t mind McAsey , I now hope we don’t draft him. The kid will be the instant new whipping boy if I go by most posters on here.
Let’s hope if we get Kemp , that he is not plagued by injuries and never amounts to anything. Hope GW reads bigfooty to help with his drafting - some very astute cookies on here

I’m not confident re Finn going late first round/early second. He is a big bodied midfielder with elite speed and endurance that finished impressively for metro during the carnival. He could be taken earlier than expected which is maybe why Hawks are trying to bring in another first rounder this year to match as they think he is worth it and are still trying to get in a Kemp/Stephens/Robertson as well.

Adelaide are doing the GWS trade - the risk for GWS is they have given up 12 and 18 for 6 and then 6 and a future first for 4 all for nothing if Melbourne bid for Green at 3
I don't think Melbourne will bid on him but the Giants would look completely stupid if that happened.

If we can get Richmonds 2020 second round and pick 56 for pick 30, it will leave us with 920 points from picks 42, 54, 56 and 63. We should only need 800-850 points for Finn if we're lucky but we can't afford to part with any of these four picks due to needing points. Pick 15 for our 2020 first round is just not going to happen unless maybe we work it that it's Gold Coasts pick 15 and Brisbanes 2020 fourth-round pick for our 2020 first-round pick and our 2020 third-round pick. Which I'm not too sure I believe will get it over the line as we probably need to pay overs to get that pick 15. Plus I'm not 100% sure if we're allowed to trade our 2020 third-round pick. To be honest I'd really rather back our recruiters with two picks in the 50's and a 2020 first-round before a Downie bid comes as this is messy.

GWS will be 770 points short if the bid comes at Sydney pick 5 so that will wipe out their 2020 2nd and 2020 3rd picks as well. So for pick 4 and Green it will end up costing pick 2019 pick 12,18,40,59,60 and 2020 1st, 2nd and 3rd picks

Finn isn't among the 16 players invited to attend the opening night of the draft.

Assuming there has not been a bid on Finn before GCS’s Pick 15, this Draft night live swap might work...

Hawthorn give: 2020 1st round (value pick~12?) + Pick 30 (629pts)
GCS give: pick 15 + 2020 2nd round tied to Brisbane (Value pick ~36?= 502pts)

Possible loss of points~ 300.

Gain: a second 1st round pick before we take Finn.

Didn’t that work out well for us 😂
Moose is a great example of the draft watchers. Clearly he was too slow for AFL, yet there was universal shock when he slid so far. I reckon too often they rate the kids against the other kids rather than rating them on their AFL suitability.
