Think with Robertson would he have the go home factor in a couple of years.
was asked on Trade Radio if he had a preference for clubs to go to and nominated Hawthorn. Didn't even nominate a WA club.

Funnily enough my NAB coach mate said pretty much the same thing.. He had the feeling that his tank won’t ever be a midfielders tank and he’s not a natural ball winner, with that said I really like him.

Is there some Ryan Burton about him? We hoped he’d become a big bodied mid but really looks like he’ll be a career running flanker.
More powerful and physical.
Seems a better balanced player too, with a killer side-step.
I would prefer Kemp to Burton, and I quite like Burton.

edit: just on his ability to accumulate - I don't see a problem if he is a high impact player, which it seems he is.
Cyril didn't get many possessions either, so if Kemp becomes a 18-22 disposal player off the back half, swapping through the midfield or forward line, he could become a dangerous player for us. Well worth the pick 11-12. I could understand if we chose Stephens or Robertson ahead of Kemp, but I can't see why we would take Day before Kemp. Doesn't make any sense for the types of players they are. Kemp seems to offer more even if he only played in a similar role off HB.

I listened to the video where Cal Twoomey discussed the basis for his top 30 selections. His basis for selecting Day was quite speculative. If he doesn't know it seemed like he's not the type to admit it so he suggested it was his 'late mail'.

I still feel one of the more touted top 15 picks will make their way to us, that is Kemp or Robertson. Stephens seems like a long shot given the level of interest in him.

Another interesting one is whether clubs are not inclined to bid for a F/S or Academy player if they know they will be matched. They don't want the player they ultimately pick to feel like they were sloppy seconds. Let's hope that plays a role in Finn M getting to the Hawks late in the piece!

Do we try and get too creative at times when selecting players? Daniel Howe is one that had me baffled at the time. Just looked vanilla from the get go and clearly didnt have any outstanding attributes. I believe most were suprised when we took Lovell where we did too.

Both Lovell and Hartung were surprises.. We missed a few golden opportunities by taking those 2.

I don’t see under any circumstances that we take Robertson, we all need to consider what our clubs needs are...

Inside mids:
Mitchell
Worpel
Omera
Shiels
Maguinnes
Howe
Cousins
Wingard (fwd/mid)

Whilst Cousins and Howe aremy bonafide senior footballers, they both have shown the ability to compete. This area becomes a bit of a log jam with Finn coming and Titch returning from injury, this could make the Robertson drafting a no go.

Ideally in terms of list dynamics it’s Stephens we need, without doubt he fits a specific need and is a top 10 talent.

We are also crying out for small pressure forwards, what we do here I have no idea but we may surprise with a speculative pick somewhere.

We will probably pick someone not considered in the phantom drafts (Bergman?) and everyone on here will lose their mind.

That said, really interesting to see who we pick and who’s available:
-Stephens seems clearly the best fit but unlikely to be available
-Kemp seems most likely to be available but some talk we have gone a little cold given unproven as a mid and injury risk
-Robertson is a good ball winner and has some pace but, with queries on decision making and footskills (and versatility) seems a poor fit with our midfield. We have enough who can find it.
-we have a better version of day in scrimshaw and similarly do we need another hbf in young?

The other intriguing thing is if we can trade back into the top 30 + who we can get?

Hopefully Elijah Taylor or Will Gould

What we Bigfooty contributors have no knowledge of is whether a prospective draftee is a deadset FLOG.
The No dickheads policy at the Hawks may be a myth, but it’s concept: that all players should be thinking that the team comes first ... and that destabilisation off the field can affect what happens on the field, .... is real.

I was happy Essendon got Stringer. The Bulldogs did not want him for a reason.

The Hawks have so many good choices at pick 11 / 12. If they pass on someone who seems to be the greater talent ... I am sure they have an excellent reason.

Okay, I'll have a go - we'll get Finn to bolster the inside and will be looking for outside run and pressure forwards to replace Omith & Hendo and Pop & Bruest.

How did I do?
You did great!

I just hope the recruiters are on the same page.

In saying that, there's no point reaching for a FP just because we want one for 2021.

It was all about the size!!! We were so damn keen on finding our very own version of Fyfe that Howe was anointed.

I heard him say on a podcast that if he couldn’t stay I WA that Hawthorn would be his preference. Just because he named us doesn’t mean he doesn’t want to play for a WA club.

Jeremy Sharp would fill the need for outside class if we were to get back into the draft with our future first. Stephens seems a distant dream (would’ve loved him)
If we take Day at 11 I will feel pretty gutted.. but I guess there’s a reason some get paid to scout talent and I don’t?

Agree on Sharp & agree on Day.

My wife asked, 'Draft will be a long day, what will you do to kemp yourself busy...?' I said 'stay sharp and gould myself for shark finn later in the evening...'

Oh these dog days of pre draft are merciless. 🙄

Noah chance you'll get away with puns in this thread. Better Pickett up, Sharp...
