Many exquisitely skilled players haven't made it. It's obviously not that simple.

Agree, but if it was simples they'd all have cups. ;)
That one piece of footage where he picks it up, blind turns out of carnage and fires it 10 meters by hand to the open player says more than I saw in a career from JOR.
I like the kid, and definitely more so because Hawthorn Football Club like him.

Why wouldn't I want to see the bright, si-ide of life?

Hawks were in trade talks earlier tonight. Two picks in the 20-30's would be nice for next years first.
Worrell and Sharp would be nice alongside Finn

if we get 2 picks then 1 of them will be used to match Finns bid and then we can pickup a talent later potentially?

People are a bit too short sighted here - only wanting blokes that can play round 1.
Will Day has some serious lazer skills. Haven't had that for a while. With O'Meara, Worpel, Mitchell running around the middle - would be great to have someone with ELIIITE kicking skills around them.

Nice i look forward to watching him we do miss another laser kick from defence to help set-up the play with Sic&Scrimshaw.
What his speed & toughness like?

I wish we traded to get Kemp,190cm plus onballer would of been very handy, our on ball brigade is very small against the modern day midfielders.

Maybe we can still muster a trade for Robertson or Worrel.

Lions are red hot for Deven Robertson at 23

What’re our options then?

Seems like our future first is overs for pretty much anything available now.

Jackson is the next Grundy. Had to take him as Maxy's replacement in a few years and they felt he is already a better KPP than what they have.

Seems they’ll mould him as a key forward first and foremost and pinch hit ruckman. Maybe they’re not that bullish on Weidman.

We can't trade out our future first now can we? Need to take 2 first rounders in a four year period. None in 2017 or 2018 and Will Day this year. So need to take one next year right?

Long term, Day makes sense. Shiels O'meara Titch & Worpel are all hard mids who are decent (but not phenomenal) ball users (plus howe and cousins at box hill). We didn't need anymore inside ball winning mids, we need run and smarts to replace the soon to be outgoing smith and hendo. With stephens gone, Day looked like the next best option in the draft to play outside hb/wing. With finn added tomorrow, we will gain 2 players that bring smarts, pace, gut running, ball use and IQ. It's not a pick for round 1 2020, it's a pick for our squad for the next 5-10 years.
Also, if Day plays outside running half back, it could release Impey when he returns to replace Puopolo deep forward and bring some pressure and small forward x-factor we desperately need.

Maybe the club sees him as something other than a half back flanker.

Ricky Henderson was pigeon holed as a HBF until he got to Hawthorn.

You can still do it, it just means you may not be allowed to trade your future first for a year.

So by my calculations Freo will go into next year's draft about 600 points in deficit and GWS will be about 300 points in deficit. Is that right?
Also, if we had to match a bid for Finn at pick 22 we would have enough points from picks 42, 50 & 54 to cover it, with 60 points to spare.
Interesting to see if we do indeed try to trade our 2020 first once a bid has come for Finn.
Would be great if we could somehow land Robertson, but think he will go in the first couple of selections tomorrow.
