You're underrating this guy quite a bit IMO.
U16's Championships WA's M.V.P. and All Australian
U18's Championships WA's M.V.P. & Larke Medalist for the most outstanding player of the Carnival, All Australian Captain.
Sub 3 sec 20m and sub 8.00 Agility right up near the pointy end athletically.

He's one player I'm absolutely certain will grow his game once he gets into the AFL system.

He's more than a very "reliable" midfielder, he's clearly the 3rd rated pure mid in this draft behind Rowell and Green.
Very valid points Bicks, just would have liked to seen a bit more match-winning ability from him from what I've seen, not as versatile and as damaging as some guys I've got above him. If he'd shown a bit more up forward, or bit more development in his outside game, or even if he was a bit taller, I'd have him higher. I've got no question that he's a sure thing as an athletic, clean, ball-winning inside mid, though, he's around the 15-ish mark for me

Sounds ok if we are 100 percent sure that both Crouch lads are leaving next off season

Otherwise, not a need

A couple of weeks ago I commented McAsey had a Hamish surprise selection feel about him, now that cat's out of the bag I've had a good think about it and I'm now leaning towards Deven Robertson as the Hamish surprise selection at our pick to get in before Freo?

Who do others think could be Hamish's surprise pick if he selects a player generally not being spoken about for Adelaide?

I think you're over thinking things M. Hamish is consistent with his early picks and those he has named will be where we grab one from.
I wanted LJ originally but settled for Young when he was rumoured to be sliding. DR is in the tier just below the top 8 if the pundits are to be believed. Who really knows? Not me!

I doubt it but it was clear listening to Hamish he rated the kid on what he'd seen as a 16 year old....I think looking at our pick situation and theirs Geoff Parker has played this real well almost assuring we won't be able to get him unless we pay what would be considered big overs for a kid that's had serious injury issues. He's now theirs in the rookie draft but they have it covered with their late picks in the National Draft should a bid come.
If mead gets bid on at say 23, doesn't that wipe out ports late draft picks this year? Does that mean if they choose to match a call on burgoyne at say 45 it starts to take out their 3rd and 4th (ie what they still have left) round picks next year?

Sub 3.00 sec and sub 8.0 Agility, two way running midfielder with great endurance and a great overhead mark that averaged 30 disposals [Championships high] 7 tackles, 5 clearances, 4i50's, 3.5 r50's, over 50% of his disposals contested per game against the best mids of this draft class at the Championships....All that with a bung shoulder.....yeah OK, sorry if I disagree. There was a very good reason why he was the winner of the Larke Medal and why he was named All Australian Captain. If we're drafting the best midfielder available to us at our pick he has to be in that conversation.

Ah OK, Deven Robertson is hardly that far out in left field but.
For some reason this year I'm treating the draft like Xmas. I haven't sent Santa a wish list, just looking forward to the presents being unwrapped

I think people are miss understanding Mutineer post
It’s more of a suggestion as to what a Hamish Special “might” be
He didn’t say he wanted to draft him at 6
I think at pick 6 we need to find the best talent and it will not be a pure midfielder. Robertson is one though in that category but outside top 10
Yet I’ve seen drafts inside 10

I personally think his comments about sliders could be in the Ash/ Flanders mould
He has never mentioned Young though
The only one I’d probably be cheesed off about is if we selected Jackson
I like Jackson a lot
However the improvement I seen in Strachan and with our new 2km Port Guy champion we can cover for now

I'm honestly not seeing a bid coming for Trent Burgoyne with his history of recurring hamstring issues basically since the U16's but it was interesting Hamish nominated him for our State Combine. I'm thinking he might have been a possibility to us as a rookie but Parker has cut us off at the pass because if he slips through to the rookie draft they can now use their last rookie pick on him is my understanding of the system?

Yeah looking through the port board earlier they can't match a bid in the main draft but get him automatically other wise.

He could be one of those to fall to the early 20s

I saw him a lot at club junior level (from a little kid till a few years ago) , he was a gun, the ball on a string type freak player. (Selfish though)
He’s easily worth a punt for them. (If his hammys were back related they could be permanently fixed by now, who knows)

Quietly optimistic after this that the end of Kristof is near 😛

heh, when I first saw the comment I thought you(Faith) had written it. I was quickly going to quib something about faith no more, but realised I misread it and it wasn’t you. So instead we have lots of Faith?

At the under 18s national championships this year i heard hamish say while watching robertson that its a shame he cant kick otherwise he could be a future star of the AFL so im not sure he would go for him. Mind you chayce jones is a average kick and hamish still picked him.
