I disagree massively on Bewley - I saw nothing to suggest he’s even an above average kick. He’s exactly like Danyle Pearce - nice looking kicking action and can kick it a long way but hardly ever hits a meaningful target. He’s slow for a winger too. Contracts aside he’d be the second player on our list currently I’d dump after Colyer. I try to be positive about most of our players but he is absolutely awful.
The first few kicks he had were magic. Superbly weighted, even commentators were frothing about how well he kicked them. Then he went to water as so many of our players seem to. Was very highly rated for his kicking pre-draft and and I think he probably has it in him if he gets the mental side right.

Interesting.

They are the only club who could take six selections into the two-night draft in November, with Richmond and Fremantle looking likely to use five.

Was just about to hit post on that!

Much prefer the sounds of 5 picks over going in with 3 picks. Really hope we can somehow manage to snag an extra first rounder to complement 7 and 10. Would be nice if they could get the pick before draft night to ease our worries

I don’t think they have factored in some of the contract extensions of people on the Rookie list that are supposedly being upgraded to the main list.

So we may have 5 picks but not 5 live! Picks.

Club will need to nominate which ones will be upgraded and then they consume the tail end draft picks.

If a bid is coming for Heny can't see it coming in before our first, and I think there's a pretty good chance the bid lands outside our 2nd pick too.

If Melbourne bid their 3 on Henry, you'd have to fall back on plan B which would be 1st pick Serong/Robertson/Flanders, 2nd pick Stephens/Kemp/Jackson and hope a Sharp or Rivers falls.

If that bid can just drop to outside 12 - it really will tell the tale for us.

If Hughes' first season on the rookie list back in 2015 doesn't count as part of the three years on the rookie list rule, then keeping him there for two years doesn't really change much for two years?

Same with Giro, next year is the third year for him there, we might be able to upgrade both next season?

Amazing that Darcy is younger and playing quality AFL games yet I have read people want a Lobb/Logue ruck duo
They are a couple of months apart in age but Lloyd is the one I think has the more to offer around the ground, but he needs to build his frame to compete in the ruck first and foremost.

Set the bar pretty low there.
Yes and no.

From a natural ability point of view I don't think we're terrible tbh. We certainly don't draft guys who have a known skills weakness more than most clubs.

Train skills more and get more confidence as individuals and as a team as a result and most of these guys will be fine when/if we get enough A Graders into the side.

The article is written as the number of draft picks to be taken, rookie upgrades count as draft picks.
Obviously what we care about is the number of live selections as you've stated.

As far as I'm aware there is only one way to permanently upgrade a rookie to the main list, and that's in the draft.
It can't be done after the draft, in the middle of the season or any other time as some people have been discussing.
There may be one slight loophole when promoting a rookie when another player is on the LTI list, if you demote a different player to the rookie list.

When you've made a commitment to a player, what sort of message does it send to renege on that?
Now a renegotiation, that is a different story.. maybe some extra cash in the deal to stay on the rookie list another year?

With the acquisition of Aish in the trade period- how many top 10 draft picks are on our list?
Brayshaw, Cerra, SHill, Logue, Hogan, Conca, Aish ?

You could argue Wilson too, he was taken before the draft in the same group as Jeremy Cameron, Treloar, Shiel etc.

Agree. But it is madness to promote Giro to the senior list. We should, perhaps with extra cash as you say, keep him on the rookie list. He is going to be out for most of the 2020 anyway, so it shouldn't really make a difference to him.

We have such a good ruck combo at the moment Meek can take the time needed to become AFL ready. Love what we have done with that part of the list.
