Yeah it’s not enough but I get where your going with the tabs angle.
FWIW I’d be exploring it too if I was freo.

I like tabs but he’s definitely the most limited of our fwds in terms of positional adaptability and different “looks” our team can use with him in the side -combined with as you say Geelong not having much in the sheds post Hawkins.

Think it’s why Geelong will ask for brander from wc in any trade with them
Would not be the slightest bit surprised if Tabs plays better than Hogan next year. No way should we consider our best marking forward.

I know the bloke is a good player, and I would love him at my club, but if a 25 year old Polec cost us pick 11, with a Jasper Pittard thrown in for change, then I wouldn't be forking over pick 6 alone for a comparative bloke like Hill of a similar age.

No disrespect to the player, or the majority of cordial folks on this board who I have discussed this matter with, but I reckon most of you are overpricing him. If you can actually do that well in a trade, then power to your club.

We'll see if and how it plays out.

You are quick to tell us how we overate hills worth. but have you ever thought you could overate Polec?

Langdon to Melbourne looks very, very likely now. #20 should be coming our way. Need to play our cards with Hill to perfection, because our outside wingers will be non existent next season

What makes you say that? As in, why 'now' all of a sudden?

Well that's not much then (not that you'd expect anything else this time of year, season still going etc.). Sounds like rumours are getting stronger that Melbourne are going to take a serious shot and/or have already made offers to Langdon's manager. But that's not what I would call "very, very likely" that he's going to Melbourne - not yet anyway.

exactly! not a single journo has been able to come up with anything other than he is out of contract and was born in vic!
Melb made public they were interested months ago, still no new news

Haha
You can highlight all the stats you want but I’ll trust what I see when it comes to Ed’s disposal...and it ain’t pretty

Worst kick in the team by far! It looks something like this:

Brayshaw ====>Pearce===========================================================>Langdon

I love his work rate & endeavor but his foot skills when on the run would have to be close to the worst in the league making him totally unsuitable as a winger. I dont watch neutral games very often anymore so I may be exaggerating so if anyone has any other recommendations for worst kick in the comp feel free to let me know.

To quote Dirty Harry "A mans gotta know his limitations."

I've been saying this for years. Especially with those bigger players. I used to work in the industry and I was just amazed at how addicted even very reputable coaches would be to their better players. They would rather they play them to the ground than rest them and give them a few weeks to get back to speed. I get it, and its not an anti-Lyon thing, but it s**ts me that players and coaches just can't resist over-playing for their own good (at times).

I've always thought the next evolution in this sport is going to be coaches who are able to take more control of the genuine managment of players in a way that maximises their availability over the longer term.

Welcome to Luke Beverage. Plenty of star players miss through the year but are cherry ripe come seasons end.

In the NBA they have a term load management.

At certain times in the season they have an extension of time off. Leonard had 15 games off in a 82 season.

In AFL, it’s impossible to be up all the time and when finals come, you need your best players.

In Baseball, they rotate their pitchers and in cricket the fast bowlers.

With six days breaks and travelling interstate, smart load management should be used.
Yep, and also in bball (my old sport) you have sprung courts, shoes with serious air and other padding, shorter games, more breaks, and much less distances to run AND they still take player management that seriously.

IMO.

Let both Langdon and Hill go, if they don't want to stick around we don't want them. Sell high, both have had good years statistically.

We could end up with three first rounders this draft and give the new management a great opportunity to build something long term with the young talent already on the list as well.

Correct.

AFL tend to be behind the times.

Remember, no one rotated off the bench until Connelly did it.

What?

He is contracted for 2 more years. Same as Kelly last year for Geelong.

Hill might want to go, doesn't mean he gets his wish.

He only goes if we get overs in a trade.
CLub won't be as selifsh and arrogant like Geelong. Please. We'll grant his wish. That's what we do anyway.
