I like it. I'm not sold on the make up of that defence though. Could end up needing 6 upgrades. Just personal choice but I prefer Witherden & Williams to Milera & Mills as potential "keepers".
I agree, could backfire .....but Witherden & Williams at best will be approx 95 ave .....I'm not going to be that far off with Milera and Mills ....it'll be close

But it's hard to predict with any confidence on those 4 players

Fellas, This is my current setup and still undecided if I should run with it or tweak it a little bit,

ANY IDEAS OR SUGGESTIONS?

Cheers boys xoxo
Love the pod's but i'd be freaking out about the 4 forward rookies.

Forward line as a whole could seriously average 370 total score at points if you're willing to take that risk

1 of Milera or Mills to Zac Williams theres ur money. Its a gift horse.........
I don't like Williams that much .....probably would have preferred Smith to Williams, but that was a $70K jump

I expect Mills and Milera to see midfield time .....I keep hearing that under the 666 system teams will need quick midfield players

Oh I honestly would have liked Burgess instead .....I tried, I really tried ....but I have $4,100 left in the bank & literally there was no more $$$$ to be squeezed anywhere

Could have downgraded Scrimshaw or Duursma .....but not for Burgess, didn't see what I would gain doing that

If Scrim isn't named, I'd take Burgers

Mills isnt fast. I dont trust horse at all. Wiliams is a good chance to take the kick outs. But I dont wanna be the guy that made you change a player thats about to go 110 in the backline lol. You would hold that over me forever lol.

vast ...if you make any comments about Rocky's selection ....it'll be war

Rationale

1. I like Andrew Birch 's mid-price strategy, keeping money aside, seeing which mid-pricer flies & which dies an aganizing death .....by that time he can see which Rookies are flying with good JS .....and which premo's are flying, thus allowing trading up or down as required

2. I took a bit of a both Andrews approach but also a G & R .....I've got most of the heavy point scorers from 2018 ....some will fail, so I'll do what Andrew is doing, but in reverse ....trading down a failed premo B4 he loses $$$ to a 2nd tier flyer

3. Milera is my POD at D1 ......WTF you say ? .....but I have him averaging 90 this season .....5 tons from the last 7 games & he will be better this season

4. I would have preferred Williams over Smith ......but I wasn't prepared to stuff the side up to get the extra $70K

5. Fyfe, Oliver, Macrae .....could only choose 2 .....Fyfe always starts each season with some monster scores, Macrae last year was just too consistently big to ignore & the new rules IMO will suit him

Oliver will be in my side .....potentially as a corrective trade, if Rocky fails

6. Chose Rocky because if you look at his scoring patterns ....started slow last season (not fit) .....got some momentum mid season ...then IMO those shoulders impacted his last 3rd of the seaon ....but IMO he looks 100% fit now & has history to repeat

7. Would have preferred 5 starting Rookies ......but there has to be trade-offs to your strategy
You know Milera's potential as well as I do, both having had big wraps for him from the start. It's a good call but personally I bailed because I traded him in a few rounds too early last year and got burnt.

Moore I hate as a pick regardless but all you campaigners can have him and the melts will be delicious when he sprints off having imagined straining a hamstring.

Mills a risk but one I was considering taking, if a Sydney mid picks up an 5 week + injury before lockout he is in my side. Scared off by horse only.

Rocky based on one jlt game... enough said, risk it for the biscuit

Only other concern I have is with the dogs, potentially having a good selection of inside mid options Bont/Libba/Mclean/Dunkley/Macrae etc, one of Bont or Dunkley is a good chance to play forward a lot, and Dunkley is more like the other grunt mids than Bont, meaning he may go forward on a degoey-esque split of mid/forward. Good pick if it comes off

Look if you are gonna win the 50k any year, it's this year, but be prepared to be salvaging the pieces of your broken soul when you meet me below the top 30k if some of it goes wrong.

What have we constantly told other Coaches .....trust your gut ? .....well that's what I'm going to do, I didn't last year on a couple of players ....so this year, if I fail, it'll be all on me

Milera was shit early last year becuase he was played forward ....in the 2nd half of the year, he played with increasing confidence in DEF & of course the team performance improved

Of course, I just happened to trade him in right before his hamstring injury/tendinitis as he begun playing off the hbf. Chastised myself at the time but was a good call which would have paid off

btw WaynesWorld19, I'm considering a 117k rookie -> Gibbons and then Williams -> Milera, but god that risk adverse side of me is coming out

All but the Cousins pick look good to me, rate it. Sweet at R3 not bad considering dogs only need a unfortunate smelting accident to be forced to play him.

Ive told them to not pick spuds like R.....eh um. Meanwhile my team is not doubt full of them also.

Roast me kents. Pretty Vanilla, changed out Greene/Goldy for Grundy/Moore. Not sure I like it, but it also leaves me $89K buffer just incase a few rookies are spudding it up or Walsh or Collins or whoever come out all guns blazing.

Burgess is now in that B1 spot but couldn't be bothered updating the screenshot. Can be swapped with Moore need be through defence and forward.
I'm not 100% all in on Dusty this season, but I honestly cannot think of who else to put in M4. Had to turf Fyfe to get Moore in and now only have 14k left in the bank, so Dusty it is by default.
I'm completely happy with every single other selection. Walters the only genuine POD. Mid-priced defence to maximise the value and upgrade later on when and if necessary. Stacking midfield and forward line with premiums I can envision having come the end of the season.
Never put this much work into a team before round 1 before so hopefully it pays off. Last season was when I stopped playing with my heart and started using my head and ended up having my best ever year. Hoping to grow on that.
Good luck everybody!
