Not every club gets to play away games at their venue of choice against the Pies and Richmond (who seem to play their home games at Marvel against the Dogs, Roos and Saints)
Adelaide will travel to Alice Springs on Sunday, May 17 to face Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park.

The Round Nine clash is the first match confirmed in Adelaide’s 2020 home and away fixture and will mark the fourth year in a row the Crows venture north of the border.

The game will feature a celebration of Indigenous culture and contribution to the game of Australian Football with first bounce at 2.50pm ACST.

The complete 2020 Toyota AFL Premiership Season fixture is expected to be announced later this week.

Melbourne v Adelaide
Sunday, May 17
Round Nine
2.50pm ACST
TIO Traeger Park, Alice Springs

Hope it's a similar result to the last time we played the Crows there :D

I don't understand why people are already calling it a terrible Round 1 fixture when we haven't seen any games yet. Sure on paper, it isn't the most fabulous look, but it could end up being really good.
People will go to these games in droves regardless of quality match ups because its the first official week of AFL in months. So I guess it makes sense they'll throw a few shitty match ups knowing they will sell out or come close to anyway.

I'm just going to say, if the AFL schedules us to play two straight away games against Essendon and Carlton I'll be so annoyed. In what universe is that remotely fair? Apart from the first couple of years of West Coast's inception they've never made a WA team play two games away from home in a row.

Vs Freo if true as we play at home round 1 we'll play away round 23.

edit: ah damn it means we'll get them only once and it'll be in Melbourne. The AFL try to avoid sending Vic teams to Perth twice in one season.
Caro said on Sportsday that Richmond are coming out to Perth twice.

Umm that’s completely untrue.

We’ve travelled to Perth twice 9 out of the last 13 years. Also played Fremantle in Perth 13 out of the last 14 years.

I’d say that’s the most out of any club. We’ve already played at Optus Stadium 5 times in 2 years, which is definitely the most out of any club.

Then again, we’re the Victorian club that travels the most

We’ll likely travel to Perth twice if we are indeed playing Fremantle in Perth in Round 23. I don’t see the AFL only giving us West Coast in Melbourne. In fact, I think there is a high chance that we’ll play twice.

A Thursday night game
A Friday night game
Coll vs Ess
Two Sunday arvo games
Two Sunday Twilight games
A Sunday Night game
A Monday night game
The usual crazy AFL decision. Hold this one stand alone game to the detriment to the rest of the round.

a not so hidden message to the footy public "we don't give a crap what you think"

So is anzac day game traditional or not? its been described as traditional from the second year onwards

I am just completely confused by the conflicting info about Round 2 with Carlton - heard they are playing Richmond, Collingwood and Essendon in first three rounds on SEN but if that's the case, why is the AFLW game between Freo and Carlton at Marvel - the only explanation is that two teams with no AFLW counterpart are playing a game at Marvel - those four teams would be between Essendon, Hawthorn, Port or Sydney... Port and Sydney should both play at home round two. Just completely confused by that.
