"The 2020 season fixtures are expected to be released next week, however clubs are yet to see any draft schedules of the coming AFL season."

Don't know if we'll even get a round 1 leak this weekend, if that's the case.

Don't mind seeing Richmond play, but just get a side in there that'll make a real game of it.

Nah, be happy to see a Geelong v Hawthorn, or a Carlton v Collingwood or something. Doesn't have to be tigers.

The two highest placed Victorian teams from the year before should be the opener.

Next year would be Richmond v Geelong.
That’s what I believe Anzac Day should be
My ideal season opener should be defending premiers vs a good team (preferably one they played a final against, or an epic matchup from the previous season.
So perhaps Richmond vs west coast (the rd 22 game)?

I wonder if the afl is keeping their hands close to their chest to stop Jeff Kennett stuffing up their plans again

(Rd 16 last year was meant to be hawks-magpies Thursday night, crows-port Friday night. Kennett complained about the 5 day break (despite aflpa agreeing to 2 a season per team to allow more Thursday night games), which caused hawthorn-Collingwood to be moved to Friday night and the showdown being moved to Saturday twilight.

The AFL usually dripfeed games for at least a week (which is so lovely). So probably not until Monday November 4th.

I just can't believe there's been literally nothing so far this year - not one leak - Port and St Kilda in China is not a leak - we knew that was happening for three years - Gold Coast replacing Melbourne in Alice is the closest we've had to a leak (or is that Darwin - whatever) and we don't even know who they are playing.

There's been no talk about the impending fixture anywhere this year

I heard all clubs have been shown and two are unhappy. Magpies and Hawks. Collingwood want a Friday night game In R17 instead of R16 and hawthorn want 4 2.10 games on Saturday not 5.

"4. Who will be the AFL’s love child in 2020?
Every year the League takes a punt on a club it believes will bolt up the ladder and make for great prime-time viewing. In 2019 that club was Essendon. The year before it was Carlton.
We’re not sure the Blues are quite back in the AFL’s good books just yet, although they will certainly be awarded more than just the season opener against the Tigers as a blockbuster, prime-time game.
No. The team we’re expecting the League to punt on in 2020 is St Kilda. There is all sorts of hype about the Saints with Bradley Hill and Paddy Ryder headlining an impressive list of players who have arrived at the club.
The Saints are the perfect team to plug into Thursday and Friday night footy because they play their home games at the weather-proof Marvel Stadium and if they’re winning their fans turn up in their droves and they’re loud. And with Dylan Roberton and Jarryn Geary set to return from debilitating injuries and Max King shaping as a star, they have great stories to tell, which the broadcasters love."

Good God I hope not........Reeks of 2015 Carlton when they got all of the Friday night games and we had near 10 goal drubbings every 2nd friday night.

It’s understood Kennett and McGuire are holding up the release of the draw.

Kennett’s angry about Hawthorn playing 5 games instead of 4 in the 2:10 Saturday time slot, while McGuire’s unhappy that one of Collingwood’s 8 Friday night games is in round 16 instead of the requested round 17.

The fixture may be delayed until early November.

It’s like the world’s unfunniest echo.

I would like to see the West Coast Eagles get 7 consecutive home games to finish the season. Then listen to all there bitching when they complain about how hard their draw is in the first 15 weeks.
It wont happen..... saying that.... Best Case scenario Is that West Coast get 3 home games in a row to end the season. That means in rounds 21 they get a Vic side, round 22 they get a derby against freo but that would be a Freo home game then another home game in round 23. Considering this year freo started the season with a home game and West coast ended the regular season with the home game, this year its the other way round.

So in 2020, in the 1st round, Dockers have an away game, West coast plays at home. In the final round, Eagles play away, dockers at home, Unless there is a derby in the last game of the regular season.

be nice to actually have 11 home games next season, not ten plus an away 'home' game in farkin china.
and seeing how port can't even take full ownership of it how about pissing them off and getting someone else up there. or play somewhere we might get just a bit of a crowd, like denpasar.
can't see why the club can't just denounce the chinese regime - the afl would drop us from the game like a hot potato.
Show public support for Hong Kong that will fix it so you don’t play in Shanghai .
