How I hope the draft goes down (if the ladder stays the same):

Pick 1 (Adelaide): Logan McDonald
Pick 2 (North Melbourne): Will Phillips
Pick 3 (Western Bulldogs matched bid): Jamarra Ugle-Hagan
Pick 4 (Sydney): Riley Thilthorpe
Pick 5 (Sydney matched bid): Braeden Campbell
Pick 6 (Hawthorn): Elijah Hollands

How I think it’s going to go down:

Pick 1 (Adelaide): Logan McDonald
Pick 2 (North Melbourne): Elijah Hollands
Pick 3 (Western Bulldogs matched bid): Jamarra Ugle-Hagan
Pick 4 (Sydney): Riley Thilthorpe
Pick 5 (Sydney matched bid): Braeden Campbell
Pick 6 (Hawthorn): Nathan O’Driscoll / Denver Granger-Barrass / Will Phillips
Why wouldn't Adelaide go with Thilthorpe @ 1

Sydney need to f**k right off.

+ Adelaide will get compo from Crouch & it will be top end because that sh** always burns us & it isn't worth arguing about.

Campbell will be a Swan
Whether that be their 1st pick due to a bid or their next pick. Other clubs must bid early to make sure Swans don’t get a ‘free hit’

Until the absolutely dismal performance the Swans put up against Fremantle I was hopeful we would be that club. I think you can make them bleed for their first next year reasonably easily and only downgrade one spot this year. But unless they improve, or we somehow don't win a single game, it's not going to happen.

This is a year where there's a massive risk/reward element based off your talent ID systems.

People will be wanting to trade out, and the lack of exposed form for most players will have some clubs sweating. If the Hawks back in their systems we could come out of this with some absolute diamonds.

Love this. This is the attitude we need.
Most will see this as compromised / too hard to read. We need to see it as MASSIVE opportunity to reshape our future.

Has me wondering if a club that finishes 6thect would trade their first for our future second.

Exactly.

The whole reason I did that post was to show those that think it would be beneficial for us to have some “feel good” wins.

I am probably an island but I hope we don’t win anymore games this year.
We have a massive opportunity to change things around sooner rather than later if we aggressively attack this draft (re:2004)

Also look at the NGA prospects for teams around us.

Come next year - whose going to remember a few wins late in 2020

Don’t get me wrong - players will still give 100% and we all expect that.
(look at the game against Port, we played our guts out, I’m proud of the boys)

Come at me.
I may be in the minority around these parts, but I think it's an absolute monty that we will come home with a bit of a wet sail and win at least 2-3 more games. Our list is not as bad as some make out, and our best at times this year has beaten / competed with the best teams in the comp. It's clear and I've heard whispers that our boys have had a horrid time on the road, and this whole year has been a bit of a cluster**** generally. At the start of this year I had us 6-8th on the ladder, and I reckon without covid, we might have not been far off that.

We probably should have beaten the top side on Saturday, playing with half of Box Hill, so that will tell you something about our intent in the run home. We've done the same in 2017 and 2019 where we were in a similar position with proportion of games played.

In a way, I'm hoping we are a little like 2010 West Coast. A bit of an anomaly where they finished last, and bounced back pretty quickly. But I can still see us winning the next 2, along with GC.

To my eyes Campbell is above and beyond the best player in this draft- I'm really hoping either pick before Sydney go for him to force their hand- then ideally have said team change tact and go after a key tall or something leaving Hollands open for us.

It's just like with JUH - both are too good not to force the hands of their clubs.

We shouldn’t have done it last year

We better not do it this year

I dunno, I’m pretty happy with Will Day.

Clarko and the club place winning above everything else as a cultural centre stone. They won’t thrown in the towel, so I’m not sure what you do there except hope that we lose.

This. He values winning games as the best thing for the culture and learning experience. Can't argue with that.
We'll still get a good pick regardless, and still may get who we want at that pick.

I reckon Adelaide are a certainty to get pick 2 for Crouch if he leaves, which I think they’ll encourage.
I think we’re looking pick at 6-8 which is bit disheartening. If we play with the same endeavour we did against Port we’ll win 2 or 3 more games

In all honesty I’d love to see an effort like Saturday where we still lose for the rest of the year. Perfect situation. But I just feel in my gut, that effort will net a few wins. And as you say, that’s what Clarko will be shooting for (particularly with the opportunity to go into the offseason with some positivity).

This is just wrong!!!
Has to be a way around it.
So as long as Sydney finish below us & even if North or Adelaide place a bid on Campbell then still get 2 top 5 picks?
That's BS!!!!!
then if Adelaide get pick 2 compo for Crouch OMG.

That’s fantastic and obvious from a coaches perspective

From my perspective, a supporter, while I hate Hawthorn losing even a NAB Cup game, the benefits of finishing as low as possible, especially in this convoluted season, far outweighs winning a couple more games at the end of the year

We need QUALITY youth desperately

I wish more around here had the same mentality. None of us want to see us lose games but its just the way the draft system is set up. The thing that will irk me is come this time next season and Elijah Hollands and Braden Campbell are running around in Swans jerseys killing it that is when some around here want to get the sh*ts. This COVID affected season is the perfect one to have a quick dip down the ladder. Season 2021 isn't far away and the fact we have 1/3 of our list out of contract its the perfect time to cut all the deadwood and reset.
