Yes, there's a lot more at this stage (unless Walker, Kosi, Morris, Finn, Jones come in and show they have what it takes. Their midfield and forward line is looking really good moving forward.

Mills, Heeney, Rowbottom, Stephens, Florent
Dawson, McCartin, Heywood, Taylor, Blakey, Papley

Don't know anything about Foote and Bell.
That's meant to be impressive? Worpel, Scrimshaw, Day and Hardwick I'd take any one of those over any of their under 23 players.

They are obviously great too. But it ends there - for now. Our next bunch need to show something now.

All biased aside, Sydney does have a good promising crop of youngsters coming up - and so they should have with all the draft concessions they have had (Heeney pick 18 when rated in top 3) Mills, Blackey who should be at North Melbourbe etc, etc. What annoys me though is that they media are building them up as the next second coming (Terry Wallett rates them as having the best U/23 list which is highly questionable)

Lets see how good they are with no foreseeable marquee Key Forward readily available to replace a nearly shot Lance Franklin. They completely botched the Daniher trade last year and don't have the cash to lure a Jeremy Cameron this year. All their key marquee full forwards have been poached with the aid of the AFL - Lockett, Hall and Franklin (indirectly through the bull$hit COLA). Let's see how they lure the next big forward with no assistance from the AFL who are now splashing the ca$h on their new love child GWS. Kennedy and Parker will be extremely hard to replace which will really test them going forward. Watch this space...

Lewis, Cyril, Day and Selwood were all outside of that top 4/5 range.

There's plenty of talented juniors each year and many of those come from outside the Top 5 picks to become stars. At this point to get above Syd, it'd almost certainly be via trying to lose on purpose - no thanks.

Not to mention 3 of them were drafted over 12 ****en years ago!

We might miss out on the next McGrath, Setterfield, Schache, Davies-Uniacke, Dow, O'Rourke, McCartin, Boyd, Kolodjashnij, Plowman, Toumpas, Tyson or Buntine. :shoutyoldman:

Watch a carlton and north game setterfield and ldu would be our best young players.

Will setterfield is average at best worpel is younger and significantly better, as is day and scrimshaw.

Average at best? Setterfield has played 20 games and is coming back from an ACL injury.

We are now starting to see what he can do in the seniors. And whilst I believe Worpel is a better midfielder currently, there hasn't been too much difference between them so far this season.

That would be a horrible outcome for us

For mine, the 2020 group of AFL aspirants are ... uninspiring. There are a few standouts who will have an impact.
But it looks like a 2012 style draft to me = minimal clear top end talent after the top 4.

Ugle-Hagan looks a good lead up mark: a win for the WB

Elijah Hollands looks a hardworking player... but far from Rowel‘s quality.

Riley Thilthorpe: looks a project player at best and yet is touted top 10. Looks a late 30 pick for mine.

Logan McDonald ... shows effort, IQ and talent... I’d love him at the Hawks.

I like freo’s NGA? .... Brandon Walker.

Overall, I think there are few inspiring players from 2020.

If you disagree, lead me to the answer as why am am wrong... I will follow.

Otherwise, I think this is not the year for the Hawks to trade our players. Or, if we do, we need to trade for future picks.

We will trade our first this year for somebody's first next yr. You read it here first

Hawks first and north second for team b's 2021 first, and 2020 second
We have to take a first. More likely to do the opposite and trade a future first into this draft.

Yeah I don't think so, Worpel is outperforming both and is younger than Setterfield. He's won a B&F already ffs.

It'd be nice to have Setterfield and LDU on the list obviously, because young talent is nice to have, but there's no need to flat out lie.

Correct. We'll trade in.

This is a year where there's a massive risk/reward element based off your talent ID systems.

People will be wanting to trade out, and the lack of exposed form for most players will have some clubs sweating. If the Hawks back in their systems we could come out of this with some absolute diamonds.

I think we'll look to fast track the rebuild. Take the medicine now. At the same time, we'll be cutting older players, and can really flip the age profile in one off season.

Five 18 year olds in, five of the 30 year olds out?
