I know I wasn't inferring that so apologies if u thought I did. I just latched onto the last post that mentioned him. He seems to have really got a lot of people on this board excited and some suggesting that we should possibly take him at 4. I wanted to point out that his kicking is a serious issue and if we hold kicking to our usual high standard i cant see us taking him at 4. All the hard work he does at the contest which is outstanding only to see the ball coming back a possession later. I don't think he is in the class to be picked at 4. Draft central has him in the teens which I think is right.

Is good kicking really a thing for us anymore ? We'd have to be one of the worst teams by foot in the league now.

I think that Morris will be a player.

Skillfully, hard as a cat's head and has a fair bit of campaigner about him.

Exactly what we need and hopefully we find someone to line up alongside him next season.

Hopefully he is as we really need him to be, he's only young, but I saw nothing to suggest he's overly skillful based on what he dished out on his minimal chances.

Hear what you're saying mate, but pretty much our entire side was putrid last season and the games he did play in he spent most of his time watching the ball being continually pumped into our D50 😒

So Hawthorn have pick 4 and 24

We know Hawthorn are going to get a really good player with 4. I feel that the 3 gun talls will be gone in Tillthorpe, McDonald & DGB and it’s looking likely Hawthorn would take Hollands with pick 4. Wow watching his highlights he looks to be a player and could be number 1 if he didn’t do his knee. Id be lying if I said I’m not worried about his knee as I’ve heard he did it reasonably innocuously. Yes most players recover well under a professional medical system yet some don’t and I’ve seen many careers ruined from knee injuries.

I also feel that while Hawthorn would like to take multiple top 10 selections to fast track their rebuild. They could do this two ways by packaging up picks or splitting pick 4. Yes they would most likely miss out on Hollands but let’s say they get 7 & 8 from the bombers they would most likely grab 2 of

Phillips (most likely gone)
Bruhn
Perkins
Henry
Cox
Reid

I think this may be better for the rebuild Hawthorn needs to undertake.

Interested to hear your thoughts?

Who's to say that is better than Hollands and someone like Ford/Poulter at 24 - though if you did go your method more chance of taking talls like Cox/Reid along with Downie and look to next year's mids-stacked draft to get some mids in

Did see the campaigner, as you blokes say though.

If he can learn to terrorise defenders and snag the odd goal. Morris doesn't appear to be a crumber is one concern, more a lead up forward.

Phillips hopefully, Hollands might have more talent but Phillips is a sure thing and adds more speed away from the pack whereas Holland could be more of a classy HFF. Have confidence that Lewis and Patton with a proper pre-season will be better and Tilthorpe isnt a good enough ruck to warrant pick 4.

Patton had a proper pre season last year, he was preparing from July 2019 when he packed it in at GWS.

Yeah hopefully with all those fixed then Patton won't pull up lame after 1 or 2 leads at the 5 min mark of the first quarter.
Fix that stuff & he'll have 3.1 by 5 min mark of the first quarter...

I still think Mitchell Lewis can play. Wanting him to take off from where he was at the end of 2019

I know the mail is coming from Twomey for Perkins as the one we are looking at outside the Fab 5, but I think the two raw talls could well be in that mix: Cox and Reid, but mainly Reid.

You would think once he gets to an equivalent weight of a Thilthorpe etc, he could be anything. 202cm, mobile, flexible (can play ruck - article on AFL said he had 20disp ish and 10 hit outs when he played a game in the ruck last year) super skilled on the right side, good decision-maker and a great mark. Elite endurance @ mid 6's for 2km. I've read somewhere that he and Downie trained with us at some stage last year.

If RoughandLove is on the money about Hollands- I can see us selecting from Perkins, Phillips or Reid.
Pretty Good chance his at our 2nd pick , no way we would select him at 4. Most have him going 25-35

imagine being a forward who's at his best leading up to the ball and you had this years gameplan and midfield output..

#MissionImpossible

Tell that to Jack Gunston who was 3rd in the comp for goals.

About 60% productivity compared against his best?

Gunston is just a freak that gets up the ground and can score it from any opportunity. Patton needs it in there fast when he has a 1 on 1 as he is way too hard to stop due to his size and strength. We take an eternity getting it in there so it doesn’t suit him at all. Hopefully next year that changes.

Any chance Macrae is our target? After DGB, McDonald, Campbell & JUH, I’d be happy with Macrae. Great off both feet, evasive, great 2km time. Think he could be a beauty and better than others who are also mentioned in that 8-15 range.

I’d also love Carroll, but that could be a stretch with our first.

Cal has macrea at 15, we would most likely trade up from 24 with some 2nds/3rds. Pretty unlikely we take him at 4.
