We've traded out of the first round (at the moment)

Taj Schofield and Lachlan Jones are potentially locked in as academy selections.

So, will we go tall for the other picks? Have we put ourselves in a position where we have no choice but to go tall? Will we try and trade back into the first round?

If Wines isn't named captain next year, it's a pretty safe assumption he'll be back in Vic at the end of the year. So that should net a top 10 pick, and perhaps a 2021 2nd rounder.

We're probably another year or two away from trading Rozee, Duursma, et al. though.

Worth having a look who is available around what mark, but surely we would need to wait and see how players develop and who we trade in before getting too detailed about this?

For all we know Lienert, Garner & Grundy could have absolute break out seasons and our backline could be overstocked, or we could trade in some solid KPPs.

Yep, we are in the middle of the rebuild and we will try to get a top 10 pick. Hopefully without trading Wines.

One of Powell Pepper or Wines will be the whipping boy
But we'll get another draft pick what apparently when you premierships when you catch them all

If Schofield and Jones are both 2nd round picks then I imagine we'll try and bundle 2 of the 3 2nd round picks to move somewhere into the 2nd half of the 1st round. We should still then have enough points with our remaining 2nd rounder +3 rounders etc to match any bid.

The good thing is that with such a potentially heavy first round on NGA/FS selections then there should be teams happy to trade down because of it.

Kaine Baldwin is the one that interests me most at the moment, though still not sure if he's Adelaide NGA or not

On what grounds would he be? He's not indigenous is he? Unlikely to have been born overseas???

I really don't know. I'm pretty sure he isn't, but there seems to be conflicting reports out there

I keep seeing it on the Adelaide board, but only because he's from "the country". Pretty sure that's not a criterion that guarantees NGA...

Given he's a potential first round talent I'd have thought if he was an Adelaide NGA then there would have been more press about it, considering the press that Edwards and Borlase (and to a lesser extent Schofield and Jones) have got

Yes absolutely. This story suggests he was 'in the academy', which confuses me as Hamish Ogilvie said in an interview there were 3 possible picks next year, and didn't mention him.

I don't think the 'academy' is just for people they have draft access too anyway perhaps???

Does he qualify as a Crows NGA because his father once had a 3 hour stopover at Changi Airport?

I hope we bid ridiculously early for Borlase. Chuck everything at him.

Should we? Tall, tall and more talls for the other picks.
Will we? Maybe since we've traded out of the first round. The club is terrified of going tall with a top 10 pick. If Wines goes and we get a top 10 out of that, I'd be at risk of fainting if we picked a tall there. Hopefully by then we have a new coach who appreciates the value of KPP's to put some spine into our jelly fished over cautious draft team.
