Granger-Barass, a key defender from WA, looked incredible from what I saw at this years champs.

It looks a much better draft for key position players than this year.
Any relation to w.c barass I wonder? Barass has absolutely carved us up a couple of times

Well I am really hoping we don't trade back into this draft using Wines.
I'm sure we can find another way.... like trade the 3 guns from last year to get a late 1st (while giving them a second of course....)

Port Adelaide may look to snare 2020 first-round draft pick to more easily secure academy duo Taj Schofield, Lachlan Jones
After drafting Jackson Mead and Trent Burgoyne, Port Adelaide has access to two more academy players in 2020 – a father-son prospect and a defender it may want a first-round pick to secure.

Matt Turner, The Advertiser

Expect Port Adelaide to try to get back into the first-round of next year’s AFL draft so it can better position itself to claim its academy players.

The Power has access to father-son midfielder/half-forward Taj Schofield and Next Generation Academy defender Lachlan Jones in 12 months, but do not have a 2020 pick until the second round.

Eagles talent manager Darren Hams believed Jones was probably ahead of where Mead was at 12 months ago, while Schofield was a very handy player.

“Jones is a medium, powerful defender with a long kick and a very good vertical leap,” Hams told The Advertiser.

“His spoiling in the second half of the year was very good.

“Taj probably had a bit of an inconsistent season, but he had a few injuries along the way through ankle injuries mainly.

“Taj’s strength is on the outside, but he’s not shy to get on the inside.”

Jones, 184cm, 85kg, played 18 under-18s and two reserves SANFL games for the Eagles this past season, while Schofield, 177cm and 74kg, featured in 11 under-18 matches.

See ya later, Ollie.

What about father sons?

We give up access to our 100-200 game PAFC father sons (Borlase) to get 200+ game father sons from Norwood, West, South and WWT.

Where are they?

So far it is Ebert and Mead (both PAFC) of the SANFL father sons.

The 200 game SANFL f/s rules ended in October 2017 - 20 years after we entered the AFL.

Anyone got some footage of Lachlan Jones? Macca19?

What about our NGA? Does the club ever put out a list of who is in it??

The crows have a facebook account for their academies and on Monday 2nd December post they put a list of names approx 30 in each category for Boys Acceleration Squad (16-18 yo), Boys Elite Talent Squad (14-15 yo) and Girls Elite Talent Squad (14-15 yo) with the Girls Acceleration Squad (16-18 yo) will released in mid 2020.

Do we have the equivalent type info available somewhere?

No it didn't. That BS sunset clause was removed in 2007, for the upteenth time. It's why if Cornes' 3 girls were boys, they would all be eligible for the crows.

Slightly off topic but WWT have been producing the goods NGA/FS wise lately.

I'm guessing WWT would be the club of choice for Port juniors like Mead, Burgoyne and Schofield due to its proximity to Alberton.

Although they have also produced Pudney, Frederick and now Jones, so they must be doing something right.

2x round 3 (ours & St K)
No round 4
Yep. If the ladder ends up the same in 2020 and allowing for GC being awarded pick 11, then before trade week started our picks at the following slots, after applying the Mead carry forward 57 deficit points.

==== 2nd round
25 756 pts - 57 pts Mead deficit pts carried forward = 699, pick 27 = 703, pick 28 = 677 pts, so this becomes pick
27 and the 22 pts left over generates pick 72 worth 19 pts. From Freo

28 gets bumped up to 27. Port's 2nd round pick
34 From Collingwood via Brisbane

==== 3rd round
42 from St Kilda
46 Port's pick

==== 4th round
-
** pick 72 generated from above
==== 5th round
82

Got the pick from Lore's summary at

And that is a miscarriage of justice too. Do any VFL clubs have a sunset clause on sons of players from the inception of the AFL? Brisbane? Sydney?

We are the only stand alone existing club to join the AFL and should share the rights afforded original VFL clubs.

Thanks.

Are there any players likely to ever qualify under the 200 game sanfl rule?

I like the look of Zane Trew, 184cm midfielder from Swan Districts.

Knightmare has this to say;

Zane Trew
A prolific ball-winner, Trew does his best work at stoppages, winning his own ball and tackling aggressively. He is a classy ball user who displays composure in traffic and with ball in hand, vision and is precise with his ball use by hand and foot. While Trew only appeared during the first three rounds of the WAFL Colts last season, his final match including 40 disposals and 10 tackles is one of several hints to suggest Trew may be the best midfielder outside Victoria.

Fun fact; has a pic of him and SPP up on his insta and I think his girlfriend is Jake Pasini’s sister (who we know is a Port Supporter).

Heres to hoping theres a Schofield connection somewhere in there as well.
