People have a strange sense of how the bidding system works. You dont bid on a player if you dont genuinely believe they are worth that pick and you are 100% happy to take them.

No club is going to risk bidding on a player early just to be a campaigner. It hasnt happened and wont happen
I think you underestimate Ricciuto's obsession with getting one over on us.

All the talk is whether Adelaide will bid on Ugle-Hagan but surely what they need to do is convince him to enter the draft. Throw a few million his way.

Holy **** that time by McInnes is insane.

it’s ****ing criminal that talk has him being bid on in the teens

seeing him last year he was a contender for pick 1 with a move into the midfield.

also kolars times are great. From memory he’s the former soccer player haven’t seen him play, interesting athlete though.

That's a bloody impressive 2km run by Harry Sharp. It's not a regular race length in international athletics but anything under 5 minutes is world class.

0nly 40 times have blokes who have run a 3,000m race run the first 2,000m under 5 minutes.

I don't think Blicavs ever had a time for 2,000m but his best 3,000m times before he stacked on 18kgs after he he didn't get a qualifying time for 1,500m for London Olympics, was around 8.12 minutes.

This time would be pretty close to what Blicavs would have run a 2km time trial.

AFL website says Sharp is a steeplechaser. It doesn't say how much he weights but like Blicavs might have to put on 15kgs or so to play AFL.

AFL website says this won't be recorded against historical results as it was run outdoors at an athletics track and had a significant tailwind.

Pretty sure the record is 2.75 by Wilkinson (spell) of GC.

Did a calculation of Blicavs and Sharp last night but didn't post it.

Blicavs 3,000m 8 minute 12 seconds = 3000/492 = av speed of 6.0975609756 m/sec

Sharp 2,000m 5 minutes 28 seconds = 2,000/328 = av speed of. 6.0975609756 m/sec

Blicavs fastest 1,500m when trying to qualify for the London Olympics was 3 minutes 43.81 seconds which means an average speed of approx 6.7 m/sec. If he runs 2,000m at mid point say 6.4 m/sec that produces a time of 5 minutes and 13 seconds.

Blicavs after missing out for the Olympics was 78kgs in April 2012 and started March 2014 season at 96 kgs and apparently ran a 3 km time trial in 8.50-8.55 range.

Wow. What are the odds of them running at the same speed to 10 fecking decimal points!?

How thinks we will trade out our next yrs first on draft night for a target in the top 20?
Would make sense the way Jase is tracking.

Besides the fact that we don’t know where a bid for jase is going to come, our pick isn’t dedicated to jase until draft night when a bid comes .... why the fu** panic and ditch it now like a scared child with their hand in the cookie jar.
Just looking for abit of action on draft night if we could trade in and grab a slight slider possibly a chb why not?

that’s more trading in cause we love a player and think he’s a must have at that pick, rather than swapping our 2021 pick into tbis draft because of jase which would be a dumb move.

I wouldn’t hold my breathe about trading in early, it looks very much I like, and I think we’ve had statements from our club that they prefer next years draft to this one.

if anything we might do a lot of draft day dealing to get some late 2021 picks or something.

That's what I was saying on draft night a player slide to say 18 or so we really like trade out next yrs first.
To you think Jase is tracking as a first rnd pick?

saying where someone tracks next year is difficult because it’s relevant to how 20 other blokes track.

I like jase very much but there’s a tonne of really talented 2021 guys right now.

Edps posted these early rankings a while back

So mid first to mid second round I guess depending how he goes next year?

Power picks as of this morning:

28
34
46
56

when can trades be done on draft night?
do we have to wait for our pick or the clubs pick we are thinking of trading to? or can it be done anytime?

Like say we hold those picks come draft night. and jones gets to say pick 7, we pull the trigger and trade 28 for a second next year as we have enough points anyway so no need to gobble up that pick thats worth something etc? and the lower jones goes the more we can trade away before matching?

Yes and no. It depends how many points we are prepared to go into deficit, to be offset next year against our 1st round pick.

The club has basically said they will take Lachie and Taj and are prepared to go into deficit if need be. I doubt they would be prepared to match a #1, maybe not even at 2. Essendon are keen on him apparently and they have 6 and 7 and will probably get 8 with the Saad trade to carlton, so you would think they will bid with 6 if they want to cause Port pain or 8 if less pain.
I’m guessing we’ll trade out our first rounder next year too, with Jase Burgoyne progressing the way he has, so hopefully the deficit doesn’t matter too much next year either
