How strongly go you think Swans are wanting Campbell? Any chance they might let him go if a bid came in at pick 1 for him?

Yes there is a real chance we would let Campbell go if he is bid on with pick 1 or 2 because then it means one of Hollands or McDonald will be available at our pick. I could be wrong but I don't think Sydney would rate Campbell as a top 3 player. The academy kids never turn out quite as good as the hype suggests.

I wouldn’t. However it’s just about leverage. If there is a way for Sydney to end up with McDonald and Campbell and we end up with Hollands and Sydney 2021 1st, then that could be a win for both clubs, and if Sydney believe we are considering Campbell then it is more likely to happen.

the massive problem with this is that we have recently seen how well Kelly bluffs.😂

Sydney wouldn't do it.

Also who would North pick if McDonald is off the board?

Heeney is a jet mind you, and I think Blakey will be too.

Where would someone of his calibre sit in say comparing to the 2018 draft. Is he as highly thought of as walsh, smith rankine etc?..
Different players of course but prior to the ACL he'd sit comfortably in that group, before the ACL the only player I'd consider taking before him in that 3 is Bailey Smith. JMO for what it's worth.

This is my play.

Do all possible to trade up prior to draft night.

If not successful, then sit on 9 until draft night and see how picks 1-8 unfold.

If the player(s) we want at 9 are snapped up by Essendon, offer 9 and 22 to Collingwood for 14 and their 2021 first.

This enables them to get ahead of any potential McInnes bid and their 2021 first would likely be absorbed by the Daicos F/S.

Potentially gives us 2 x top 10s next year and we may still get the player(s) we want at 14 and 23.

I wouldn't mind trading pick 1 and somehow trading up to 2 picks in the top 6-7. Not sure if that's a stretch.
I have Hollands and McDoas 1 and 2, and I'd want one of them, so any pick swap would need us to get 2 back. If we had 14, Roos may have traded 2, 10 for 1, 14...but we don't.

Going tall with pick 1 is a risk most certainly, but the strikerate high in the draft is getting better with tall forwards. Patton and McCartin obviously ruined with injury, Watts had career befitting of a late first rounder, Boyd almost singlehandedly won a flag for his side and of course NicNat

Then you've got the others who went high like the King's, Luko, and hopefully McAsey.

Next year's draft is shaping up as the one to load up with midfielders, and we are likely to be at the pointy end again.
And there will be a couple of Talls or KPF that will have a very good year and rise to the Top, Happens every year.

Not bad, but would have to trade our 2021/2 (or Melbourne's) as they would want the points.

Confirmed by the Crows, we aren't trading pick 1, unless it's massive godfather deal which benefits the Crows greatly. Extremely unlikely, so no point looking at these options
There is no point to most of the things posted on Bigfooty, yet here we are

Do we know if the draft is over 2 day like last year or back to the 1 day format. If 2 days our pick 22 and 23 hold a lot of value for future picks.

It's a very interesting theory.

I guess it comes down to whether we are 100% on pick 1. If it's Thilthorpe I'll concede he's probably not in other clubs thinking so we could afford to move back.

If it's Hollands we COULD get away with a shift but it's risky. If we trade it with Sydney say.... Do they take McDonald and North take DGB ??

If we want McDonald we aren't shifting from Pick 1 because he ain't gonna be there.
yeah, Im now convinced if we dont trade pick 1 then we're getting mcdonald.

even if we traded with sydney I would still be rapt to get hollands.

Everyone else says, “boo that’s against the spirit of the game” or some such nonsense

We say, “EAD”

Remove every WB pick and most / all of the Sydney picks from the draft.

so roughly i think we'd go from 1/9/22/23/40/56/66/80 to 1/10/22/23/37/49/58/72

I really think we should be bidding on JUH, and not only because I think he is the best player in the draft. It takes the pressure off the player we take at #2 AND it also takes the pressure off the club for getting Hately as a freebie. The bottom team being denied the best player in the draft is a far more interesting and novel narrative for the media to run with than another PSD pickup.

I heard Justin Reid asked that question yesterday & I think he said that Hamish always bids on a player if he thinks they would fulfill a need for the Crows.

Give up Vader both this bloke and chase 13 have been told regularly it's HOLLANDS but like most petulant children they never listen.

Settle down, it’s likely iPhone Autocorrect which changes Hollands to Holland’s for some stupid reason.

Sometimes you pick it up and correct it, sometimes you miss it.

Is it really that big a deal that you need to be a dick about it?

It guarantees that that would happen.

Is a small chance that could happen regardless. Is all fun and games. Would equally be happy with any top 5 prospect, Campbell and keep our first round 2021 pick.

Only really force our hand if we think that a bid will occur prior to our pick. 95% sure that it won't happen

I would expect you would want some points back to match a Gulden bid, perhaps. I wouldn’t be against it.

Agree I don’t think a bid will happen with Campbell, but it changes the narrative if there’s a specific player you want that might not be there at Pick 3 (sorry if this has been covered)

I think we have to back in our ability to help with his knee Rehab, I think we’ve done well in this area, no?
I would also be keen on having a look at Baldwin.
