I would expect you would want some points back to match a Gulden bid, perhaps. I wouldn’t be against it.

Agree I don’t think a bid will happen with Campbell, but it changes the narrative if there’s a specific player you want that might not be there at Pick 3 (sorry if this has been covered)

Sent from my iPhone using BigFooty.com

To be fair we need midfield talent and KPP talent. Pretty much in a no lose situation if we use pick three and get Campbell

Here is one I would hope the club would consider. There is talk that Essendon might look to offload a couple of their 1sts (ie 6 & 7) to get North Melbourne's pick 2. I would say with almost 100% certainty they might do that to get their hands on McDonald

Now if something like this plays out over the coming weeks then I would hope that we are then saying how much we like McDonald and are every chance to grab him at pick 1. There might be a pick swap we can make with Essendon to get pick 2 and a 2021 1st out of them maybe for our pick 1 and 2021 2nd. But I would hope the club keeps their cards really close to their chest to see who else tries to trade up and then let slip what we might do to scare them

We trade 1 to Essendon for 6, 7 and a future 2nd.

We trade 9 and 22 to Collingwood for 14 and 16.

We trade 6 and 16 to Hawthorn for 4.

That gives us 4, 7, 14 and 23, instead of 1, 9, 22 and 23.

That might be a more even spread across the first round, and still gets us one of the big 5. Funnily enough, I'm not sure if Hawthorn does that, or if anyone in the first five does really.

At this stage we are playing it well. We’ve put it out there that we don’t plan to trade pick 1 unless there is god father offer. Loosely translated that means it’s available but be prepared to pay up.
Secondly we’ve indicated that bidding at 1 is possible, again indicating to Sydney and the Dogs that they need to talk to us if they want to ensure getting their NGA’s on the cheap.
there has to be a reasonable chance of Essendon, North, Sydney or even Hawthorn making a big play for pick 1.

I don’t think we need to move 9 up. Assuming Essendon take a tall (Reid/Cox) with one of their three picks, we’re bound to get one of O’Driscoll/Perkins/Bruhn with 9

If anything, I’d be looking to use 40 to move either 22 or 23 up the order

If ever there was a team that would trade pick 1 it would be us. That said I highly doubt it gets done.

Trying to think of some combos that would get it done. I think we will especially want to stay in the top 5 this year. If not its going to take huge overs.

For someone outside of the first 5, Essendon is the obvious one, it would take 6 plus another pick before 15 plus their next years first rounder I reckon, with maybe some later round swaps, that's the sort of thing we are talking.

In the top 5, Kangaroos might get it done for 2 and next years second or 2, 30 and next years 3 rd rounder (provided we think we can take their 30 from this year and upgrade it to something higher up next year with someone)

For Syd it would take 3 and their next years first rounder, maybe some later round swaps to fix it up a bit
For Hawks it would take 4 and their next years first rounder and later swaps

For GC it would take 5 and their next years first and probably either a second this year or more preferably their second next year.

O'Driscoll is a puzzle to me as he is ranked anywhere from 9ish to early-mid 20s depending on who's doing the assessment.

What about 2 and 11 from the kangaroos?

I reckon there's no way collingwood trades its next years first this offseason. Plenty of time to do that next and its in their interest to see where it falls first, could range from quite high to quite low.

Yer borderline I reckon, it makes us have to take an extra one on this year within our existing list cuts and I think we really have an interest in next year. Also don't see why kangas do that, doesn't make sense from their list perspective. To lose a good first rounder to get a one spot upgrade when they're doing a rebuild.

I'd try and move up with pick 9 to try and grab hollands if he slides.

getting mcdonald and hollands would be a job well done.

adelaide: mcdonald
north: thilthorpe
sydney: dgb
hawthorn: possible trade with adelaide?

22 and 40 should get you 16 from Collingwood, which would be extra points for McInnes. It MIGHT even get you 14.

Depends if they want to guarantee getting McDonald, and we make the pick available for the best offer.

1 and 22 for 2 and 11?

1, 22 and 23 for 6, 7 and 8?

Depends how much of a boner we have for the "big 5", and how desperate Essendon is for McDonald.

Four top ten picks would be amazing ...

I’d be real happy to do that, but I don’t see Haw wanting to trade 4 for just 9 and 22/23. If they did want to do that, I’d be all over it

I think they want something this year after that train wreck on Thursday, need to sell something to the fans

Variation of that where we move a pick into next year...

- 1 for 6 and 7
- 9 and 22 for 5
- 23 and Melb 2021 2nd traded for a 2021 first rounder

Leaves:
- 5, 6, 7, 40, 56, 66 this year.
- 2x 1st rounders next year.

The query with O'Driscoll is his hurt factor with his possessions .....if played as a mid / wing, hurt factor is a major consideration
