This is the strangest thing I have ever seen.

Feels like a pre season game out at Morwell

Thought I wouldnt be that interested, but it's great just to see gun players play footy

The fact that the AFL uses Zero imagination and keeps serving us this tripe for the first game is a joke . So one of them has a huge following-and the other 5 million fans couldn’t give a rats .

We have been saying that for years. All the sense of occasion of watching a kitten thrown to a pitbull. Carlton must tell them every year is going to be the break out. Remember 2 years ago they got all the Friday night showcase games.

Richmond blow out to a big lead.

Richmond start taking the foot off the pedal.

Carlton inevitably come back a bit, get to within a few goals.

Commentators get erect.

Richmond start playing again and win with a comfortable margin.

Promising signs for Carlton though (again).

I just watched the highlights, and what a strange spectacle with 100,000 empty seats. Sport just isn't the same without fans and the big match atmosphere.

Bit of an American idea with canned laughter. Have 8 members of the media stationed around the ground with large portable speakers with pre recorded crowd noises for holding the ball, in the back and cheering for goal when it leaves the boot and after it is signalled. Speccy cheer as well.

Get people who know what they are doing and when to press the speaker recirding..would go along way to adding to the sound and atmosphere of the crowd.

Must say liked the no noise as you could hear the players... Be great if we could get a combo of the two.

I can’t help but talk about how good the Kayo service whenever it gets brought up. Given it’s a foxtel product, you’d expect them to treat customers like trash. Great service, great app, and a good price.

Foxtel is great service. Had full package for about 18 years but because I pay through Telstra it would cost $300 to move a box from one room to another. Seems really fair. Anyway wasn’t it great to have footy back. Very strange though. Easy in hindsight and I was going to say it before the game but as I didn’t no proof but I honestly thought having no crowd would mean less tackling. No doubt players are inspired by support even if it’s small support. Be interesting how the rest of the round goes.

They looked less terrible late in that quarter. For a gun midfield they were easily forced to chase all day. Bruce rucking works as well as it did for us.
