This is Part 1

The thread is continued in part 2:

I wouldn't mind them giving Ben Brown a go. It's not surprising he became dispirited in the last couple of years. Coming to Fremantle would be about the best place a young family could be you'd think. Might cheer him up.

Yeah he did he’s been mentioned as being trade bait. Just wanted to gauge his value
Clubs try to use the loyalty factor to pay less for player.

One way counter this is to put bs rumours out that there you might leave.

Your manager might talk to clubs to see what the market will pay.

Then the rumour is that the player is looking to move, when their indeed to get a better deal with their own club.

That was more of what was inferring, chasing some big dollar players. Only way that will work is if they are moving some money off their books. Williams, Saad, De Goey, no one on big money is leaving, they'd have a little bit from front-ending Martin's deal.

Curious and Curiouser
Neale and Hill got targeted because we front loaded contracts.

Might be a good idea to return the fav to the Blues for Martin.

Good friends of Fremantle anyone rate Sps if so a second rounder fair value ?

I don’t know what the deal is with SPS. He was talked about as a potential number 1 pick ended up going 6. Apparently a lot of potential he has been below average and has never improved. Not through a lack of opportunities he’s played 80 games. We’ve taken a gamble on too many players, I’d give it a miss.

Ben Brown, Mihocek, Smith, Marlon Pickett, Tom Phillips...oh and Cripps.

Am I missing anyone?? Thought we were having a low key trade week...

There’s only one name there that piques interest. And that sea deal is already done 🤭😉

I am hoping that with a couple of key backs coming in that our structure defensively will be more efficient in rebound footy.
I think because we were trying to protect our undersized back half, our defensive set up was designed to completely limit opposition scoring & hope we kick one more point to win.
With Ryan freed up to intercept higher up the ground & rebound through him, Logue, Wilson & Young, I’m expecting more dare through the middle of the ground.
In theory it should allow us to turn the ball over sooner, which catches opposition defensive zones out of position. Think Young’s turnover v GC & the kick to Walters.
Also being a new coach, he will teach defence first & he did often mention our connection from mid to forward was not where it should be & a lot of that was due the training restrictions because of covid.
I get that theory (and hope it is what happens) but recently posted an article re Collingwood's game plan with Jlo's defence intact but failing to transition forward because by the time that happened the opposition had set up defensively. At the moment I think it is just an assumption that we will play as you have outlined, and perhaps more likely we follow the Pies model.

Smith is a good player but a long way from what we'd be chasing. At least the Phillips rumour makes some sense since he is outside.
What are SPS weaknesses? His skills always look good.
Being a ghost onfield is the major one. Just doesn't consistently impact games.
