This is Part 1

The thread is continued in part 2:

Hey guys, just came here to ask the question.

Looks like we've met with Hogan, but you guys spent quite a bit to get him to Freo, so I can understand that you don't want to just let him go for anything less than a good price. How much do you think we would have to give up for him.

Honestly could see this trade being a lose lose.
I want Will Haywood

He has or you think he will?
It's how it went with Weller. He was valued by us, not put on the trade table by us, but his manager went and looked at options - he found a great one at Gold Coast and then Weller went on trade radio after Freo had turned down a couple of second round picks for him and said that Gold Coast assured him they would get the deal done.

If Sydney has been talking to Hogan's side to get some security and a long term deal locked away in a non footy state then the same process will flow and we will end up with Sydney's pick #4.

There will be later picks going back, but that pick will end up with us.

Weller had zero baggage though. Our only hope of getting something decent is if 2 clubs want him. Id still way prefer to keep him.

Weller didn't have any elite history either though. Jesse Hogan has always had a high profile for talent. We wouldn't trade a fit and playing Hogan for two top ten picks.

Crows and Saints well and truly exploiting the free agency compensation.

Saints offered him $550k, not enough for #2. So they've agreed to give him $700k and Adelaide take Webster and Dunstan for steak knives, therefore giving Adelaide #2 compensation and Saints get the above 2 player wages off the books.

Stuff like this used to bother me but the comp is so messed up now I think you just do anything you can do to get a leg up and expect every other club to do the same

Realistically what would you offer?

Cox is very quick but I think Narkle overall is a better option as a midfielder who can hit the scoreboard

Love how the media says Cox will decide whether he wants to be traded to us or the Eagles, as if he will have any bargaining power, he will be lucky if either of the clubs are even interested.

How about Sam Reid and a 3rd rounder , we need someone who can take a grab up fwd if Hogan goes

Gives us a bit of time to find a youngster

Reid, Lobb and Tabs together sounds like an absolute nightmare.

Is Reid still young and agile enough to also play wing? I seem to recall him having a big impact in the 2015 QF...

I reckon a medium forward like Haywood fits our needs. Sure we have Sturt who is a similar player but he’s managed 2 games in 2 years and isn’t a sure thing just yet.

In actuality they will probably offer us Elijah Taylor 🤦🏼‍♂️

It’s not great but we can’t go into next year with just Tabs , Lobb and moving someone from the backline as targets

I’m not really fussed who we get but as long as they can take a grab and give us a contest if we need them while we take a few chances on talls in the draft

Fyfe said Brennan Cox wants to play midfield next season. Imagine that on the wing.

Could Cox or Logue go forward? We are a tall too many down back in our best 22. By that I mean that all of the guys vying for KPD spots are best 22 in my opinion.

He has a Pendlebury-like ability to find time but looks like Kepler while doing it. His sidestep is seriously good. Does he have the tank though?

It's just a goof.

Cedric Cox wouldn't cost much at all in a trade, they must be offering him a contract for him to not be delisted straight up.
I think you will find Brisbane are more than happy he just finds a home in the AFL. In the 2019 season I recall he missed a big chunk early in the season when he went home to sort some community issues out. He got going when he came back and benefited from a move from Half Back to Half Forward. That 20129 season he also seems to put on some bulk. Given he is so good off both sides of his body a forward is what i think would suit him best. Our reserve grade is nothing like WAFL its pretty poor and in 2019 our Reserve grade thrashed everyone and won the premiership. The local commentators who think they are funny, started calling Cox - "Junior Silk". He seems a really great kid just hasn't had the opportunities to settle. I think he still has potential and I'm guessing it was him that said, "you guys have been great for me, let me see if I can get you a few trade points, but I'm out of here my community needs me". I think he is an Elder in his community. Anyway, really hope he gets a spot, quick and fearless seems his disposal efficiency has been the downside. Anyway seems a good kid, Brisbane would wish him well and fingers crossed he makes it.

Where was this said? Interesting development

Disagree.

Cox stats for a young tall forward was good as anybodies.
At one stage the only tall forward with a better record than Cox at equivalent games was Jesse Hogan.
