I reckon Lloyd Meek has escaped a lot of scrutiny in this discussion around our tall options. We are heading into his 4th year now. He hasn’t played a game yet. I think (based on what other posters are saying) that he’s a pure ruck only, basically another version of Sean Darcy. What is the long term strategy for him? After 4 years on the list the club must be visualising that he will play a role in the team in the future. But where exactly? A back up option to Darcy only to be used in emergencies? Could he be moulded into a ruck/forward?
it would be poor list management if he was delisted at the end of next season because we don’t see a role for him beyond just being a back up to Darcy..

It was a dud decision to bring Hogan in, but that's in the past now. If they think that moving forward we are better off with him gone even with him playing in a position of much need then I'm fine with it. Just have to get whatever they can, no point keeping them just because we paid a lot, what do they call that, sunk cost fallacy or something? It's hard to tell how he is impacting the club and players as an outsider but there us something obviously they are extremely unhappy with. Sure the bloke has had some personal issues but for mine he comes across as an immature meathead.

Meek can go forward and most likely would have played this year if injury didn't strike at the worst possible time.

The media release suggests the trade is "done" so it will be exclusive to anything the Giants get for Cameron.
If it is "done" we will get hardly anything as they have no good picks at the moment
Not a surprise. My preference was that he was a gun forward for us for 150+ games. It became apparent to me though that this wasn't going to happen. I look forward to the scape goating, finger pointing and melts that will occur over the coming months.

Interesting that the statement came with a statement from Jesse.

“I would like to thank the Fremantle Football Club for giving me an opportunity two years ago to come home and be closer to my family after what had been some very challenging prior years,” Hogan said.

“I will be forever in debt to the club for the care and support they have provided for me in my time here.

“They have always placed a priority on myself as a person first and now they allow me the option to move back interstate and on to another AFL club.”

I wish him all the best as a person and a player. I also still have great hopes that we are on the right track as a club and that this is a hard choice but the right choice to make.
Fair chance his manager would have written the statement for him.

Given the GWS match on Cameron and now the agreement for Hogan, sure feels like Freo angling for Jordan Clark from Geelong.

If we turn Hogan into Jordan Clark somehow, it would be a massive win on the field. If we and Clark himself project him to be a winger, he slots into the B22 a lot easier than Hogan does.

If Meek isn't injured I'd hope he plays games when Darcy can't rather than shuffling Lobb out of the forward line, but it's not abnormal for ruckmen to take a while to progress. I expect it's likely he would be offered slightly more money by another club seeking a ruck and be traded for nothing to them and then play ten games straight up.

Realistically we have Darcy and Lobb as ruck options without him. We need a big body backup and right now it's him. You can see why they want a ruck forward though, that's much better for us as a backup option over the pure ruck choice.

Does it seem odd we have agreed with GWS prior to the TP even starting? My thinking would be it would have to be a first to be accepted this early especially with multiple interested parties.

Or there are several underlying issues no one knows about.

Not really going to help us kick more than 8 goals a game though?

Apart from McCarthy we have had a reasonable trading association with GWS.
But whoever paid so much for Hogan should be outed, and outed now.
Was it Rosich, Lyon or Bell??
Bell did a lot of the club's due diligence and was against a trade. Ross Lyon had a "chance" meeting with Jesse at a cafe and enlisted the help of Tom Petroro to get the trade done with Steve Rosich's blessing.

This is a good point. I wouldn’t be getting my hopes up. The fact that the trade is already agreed means it’s unlikely that there are any first round picks involved. I’d say pick 30 (Corr compensation pick) come on down. Very surprised if it’s more than that.

It’s an absolute calamity that we turned down Ben King for this bloke. And are left with sweet **** all after 2 years. Horrendous is the only word to describe this shambles.
