Said in the media that he will stay in the AFL industry next year.I assume it would be a remote role? Didn't he want to go home? (Worsfold)
Too early for Scott Thompson to return. Needs to spend the next 5 years minimum in another system
No chance we could try and get luke hodge down here..sam mitchell?..
Talking, not typing! Nice pick uplol, better than twocworda, we'd hope?
So - who do we want?
Director of Coaching - John Worsfold
Senior Coach – Matthew Nicks
Senior Assistant / Midfield Coach – Lenny Hayes
Defensive Coach – Nathan Bassett
Forwards Coach – ???
Rucks Coach – Matthew Clarke
SANFL Senior Coach and Development Manager – Michael Godden
Defensive Development Coach – Brent Reilly
Midfield Development Coach – Heath Younie
Forwards Development Coach – Matthew Wright
Caracella is the one I'd be keen on as a senior assistant. He's been in some good systems and would know what success needs. His wife moved back to Perth quite a long time back. Worsfold has been public in stating that he is interested in continuing his career in football and would be open to new offers.
Maybe a stretch, certainly not fiction. On the other hand Pyke spoke extensively to Worsfold prior resigning last year. Worsfold may not want anything to do with the club.
And on another note, Essendon fans had largely had a gut full of Worsfold last year, however accepted the clubs succession plan to Rutten. It's also seems Carracella is being credited by the fan base for their improvement this year.
Yep .. pretty hard to see him leaving the Bombers right now thoughCaracella is the one I'd be keen on as a senior assistant. He's been in some good systems and would know what success needs.
Collingwood 2007-2009 - Malthouse
Geelong 2010-2015 (2 flags) - Thompson, Scott
Richmond 2016-2019 (2 flags) - Hardwick
Essendon 2019-now - Worsfold
If he needed to be enticed further, I wouldn't mind offering him the coaching director role even though he hasn't been a senior coach.
An excellent resume
Director of Coaching - Caracella
Head Coach - Nicks
Midfield - Lenny Hayes
Defence - Harry Taylor
Forwards - Brendan Lade
SANFL - Godden
Couldn't quite find space for Ben Hart
I think this year is a bit early to make any calls about their forward line. They have played us, Freo, WC and GC, lost to brisbane but had a good win v GWS.I've been quite high on Nathan Bassett for a long time. We all know what he did at Norwood, but his AFL coaching resume is starting to be quite impressive, especially at Port.
In 2 years as a defensive coach he took the 11th best defense to the 2nd and 3rd most stingy defenses in the AFL. With pretty much no name players at the time.
When he took over as the Forward coach Port were 12th in scoring (and just lost Wingard), and now Port currently have the 2nd most potent attack after only 1 season.
Its hard to garner too much after his Essendon days due to the Peptide scandal from the years before he got there, but the bottom line is the man has done some wonderful things in coaching. I would not hesitate to have him on staff!
Having said that Port would be insane to let him go, especially to us.
Neil Craig's probably got a bit of spare time tooThere’s some value in former senior coaches as assistants. What’s Dean Laidley up to these days?

You see I hate that argument though. Take out this performance or that performance to downplay a teams accomplishment. But if you do that to Port then you have to do the same for every other team in the AFL as well and see how they are tracking without their better performances.I think this year is a bit early to make any calls about their forward line. Take the game v us and Freo out -> How's their attack looking?

If you could be bothered doing all that then you’ll probably find Port are still in the top echelon of sides for scoring right now.
Better off just accepting that we are over 1/3rd of the way through the season and Port are scoring with regularity and potency.
Agree you need to do it for all teams.
Maybe we just wait another 6 or 7 rounds before making a judgement. I'm not saying they won't be at the pointy end, just it's a bit too early to call it in IMO
Happy to do that. But just so you know in the next 2 rounds they are playing the 2nd and 6ths leakiest defences of 2020.Agree you need to do it for all teams.

"ken hinkleys job is safe"The Power is back in Port Adelaide, and Ken Hinkley's job is safe
No AFL coach entered 2020 under more pressure than Port Adelaide's Ken Hinkley. But six rounds into the season, his side is a win…www.theroar.com.au
