That’s obviously the other fact. By the end of the year Himmelberg looked our most promising forward, and he is very similar to Tillthorpe. If Fog had looked better we could trade Himmo and build around him and Tillthorpe, but the way it looked we would end up with a great ruckman and two great ruck forwards And nothing else.
Fog is being played wrongly. He’s a monster for a pack. Could break one apart.

madness... total and utter madness.. thinking we should spend $900k on a lad that is pointless having in a rebuild and doesn’t even want to play for us!.

and if you think luko is overrated.. you obviously haven't watched the lad play much. Rankine is overrated at this point but, fu** me, this year was essentially his first season.. he needs to mature. he will.

like I said, i wouldnt pay anywhere near $900k a season for either of them or Cameron but if had no option and I was forced to take one of the 3 at $900k a year.. Cameron would be the last of the three I would choose for our rebuilding team. it would be;

1) luko
2) rankine
daylight
3) Cameron

just no point whatsoever grabbing Cameron even if it was for donuts in the PSD which ain't gonna happen anyway. He’ll stay at GWS before he enters the PSD.
Nah he's not staying at GWS, he'd be more of a chance of coming here, and there's next to no chance he does that.

just putting it out there that I think it is almost a lock we will be taking Thilthorpe at pick 1..the reason is that with Hately coming in and assuming we hold pick 9 and get pick 14 from the dogs and still have pick 22 or 23 and that is almost certain to net 3 more midfielders and next year has a number of highly rated mids so we will be very well stocked with younger up and coming mids. a top rated tall therefore seems a no brainer at 1
Nah... if we trade for WB's 14, I'd say we'd have to give up one of 22 or 23.

Such a deal would mean we don't bid at 1 but North would almost certainly do at 2 so WB need to match 2014 points. Our picks & points are 22(845) 23(815) 33(563) 40(429) 50(273) and WB have (besides 14) picks 41(412) 54(220)

Trading 22 & 33 for 14 would be enough for WB to use along with 41 & 54 to match a JUH bid at 2.

Also it would not (ed.) matter if we give then 22 rather than 23 as 22 will get eaten up in matching anyway and we effectively have the same pick.

22 & 33 are about 300 points more than 14(1161) so maybe we'll get something back from WB - maybe a swap of 2021 r2 picks?

So this would leave us with picks 1, 9, 14, 23, 50, 56, 66 (with 40 going to GWS for Hately the current plan). If a bid on Borlase doesn't come too early, we can use the first 4 picks in the draft.

Things could change a lot if WB manage to get a pick like 7 from the Bumbs for Dunkley.

I see what you are saying but just not sure why the nah at the start as I think we were thinking on the same lines?

I personally disagree as I have seen Thilthorpe play live a few times and he has real talent. But you have to look at how West Adelaide went this year - they were poor and it made it pretty hard to compete and dominate in that forward line and he also went into ruck. I am not saying McDonald is not highly talented but maybe he was able to show his wares in a far better side with much better supply to him..

My understanding from a good mate who worked in Westies league team - Thilthorpe dominated their 2km time trials, against their mids and full senior squad. 18, 201cm great below the knees and runs like anything. Definitely had an aggravated groin issue (OP?) late in the year but could have played last round but rested
Let’s not underestimate the kid. At the end of the day I trust Hamish not to stuff it up. Would be happy with Hollands, TT or McDonald - would love us to trade up and try and get two of them

Yeah something back but well surmised

That’s a great way to ruin a career before it starts.
Why? Being up against the best is great tool to see if you’ve got a go’er or not.
I have no problem putting Talia off a break against that Western Bulldogs guy that kicked six either hey?
Jordan Butts looked likely but got a bit of a wrap around at times.
Didnt diminish his endeavour.

If having a bag kicked on a key defender ruins their career, they weren't having one in the first place.

All defenders are inevitably going to have a bag kicked against them. Nature of the beast is eventually a key forward has a day, or your midfield breaks instead of bends etc. McAsey, Butts etc are going to need to learn how to bounce back from it in the pressure cooker that is AFL if and when it happens.

Kyle Hartigan wouldn’t have been traded otherwise

A bag isn’t the issue. It’s having them play out of their boundaries week after week. I’m not saying all of those boys won’t be good players for us in the future. But we have to manage them correctly. Play the kids at all cost didn’t work for Carlton or Melbourne and it won’t work for us.

Well that and he really picked a bad time to be out of contract if he wanted to be a one club player.

Of course, Kyle didn't have any control of the bad timing.

It’s was the right time for his benevolent character to embrace his family for a couple yrs before he comes back and develops backs runndown patterns.

Hartigan replaced McAsey half way thr

They have Talia to back them up for an experienced players, so its not like they're being thrown to the wolves without any support. Not only that, but come 2021, this will be Butts 3rd year on the list, and McAsey who is a more advanced player (at this stage, though Jordan might have the talent to bridge that gap) is on his 2nd.

You do need to pass the torch eventually. McAsey should certainly be ready next season for full time duties. Butts will probably be, noting he came from a much further away base.

I hope so. I thought Butts was ok in the Gibbs farewell game and you’re right about McAsey.
I just hope the club does the right thing by them so it doesn’t end up a Watts or Dawson situation.

Thilthorpe > Berg, but McDonald > Thilthorpe

And Berg/McDonald/Fogarty sounds much better than pairing Thilthorpe and Berg in the same forward line
I think that Thilthorpe is getting major underrating on these boards. It also worries me with McDonald that he is forever going to be a major big money target for WCE and Freo that Thilthorpe or Hollands won't and with the players we have bled over the years. If Thilthorpe, Hollands and McDonald are all at a similar level, then McDonald is my 3rd pick from these 3 lads

Understandable. I'd personally go Hollands (Crows supporter makes me want him even more) > McDonald > Thilthorpe. I like that McDonald was more of a proven goalkicker this year than Thilthorpe was, in addition to his one on one strength and endurance. IMO he's a better forward prospect than Thilthorpe, as well as a better fit with Fog/Berg

I don't know about that info you got because if he was good to go the last round did they explain why he didn't test at the SA Combine.

Umm, Oscar McDonald? We may as well have tried to keep Hartigan if we're trying to get OMac

I'm happy rolling with Talia/McAsey/Butts/Borlase next year
Josh Worral, lot of People keep forgetting him,
