Understandable. I'd personally go Hollands (Crows supporter makes me want him even more) > McDonald > Thilthorpe. I like that McDonald was more of a proven goalkicker this year than Thilthorpe was, in addition to his one on one strength and endurance. IMO he's a better forward prospect than Thilthorpe, as well as a better fit with Fog/Berg

Westies played Keogh as the FF. Chucked Rily into the ruck. He was excellent and most games he still managed to kick a goal or two. Moves around the ground quickly and a great contested mark. Westies were a crap team.

So if we do the trade, we still bid just to prove there was no collusion
Throw on a 2021 pick swap as part of the equation if there’s any concern AFL will ? Dogs knocking back another pick deal- muddies the waters

Hawks 2021 4th rounder for dogs 2021 4tg. Dogs can claim they think hawks will be real bad and themselves real good so value that trade higher than others may. You can’t ? A hypothetical like that so easily

5 goals from 9 games. Solid from playing in the ruck, would've liked to see more proven form up forward for me to have him above McDonald, though. That's why it's a shame the Champs didn't happen this year, would've been the main forward target there

I agree, he's very agile for his size and still a great mark, but I love McDonald's combination of strength, contested marking, kick penetration and endurance. Performed very well at WAFL level obviously, too. I think as it stands for me, McDonald has just as high a ceiling as Thilthorpe (perhaps Thilthorpe's is a bit higher), but Logan comes with less risk

Our experienced KPD depth is non existent with Hartigan gone and both McAsey and Jordan Butts are both works in progress at that level, same with James Borlase....that's a total of 12 AFL games experience between the three.
I'd hope that, at age 21 and 20 next year respectively, Butts and McAsey in particular can start to make an impact. A full pre-season should hopefully do them good

That said, I'm not against bringing in an experienced KPD as depth. OMac isn't the way we should be going, though, someone that's a somewhat respected veteran at least

If he had been playing as forward the goal amount would have been much higher. He's more versatile than LM. Anyway what do a coupla scrubbas like us know. Leave it to the pros to sort out.

All I know is we are finally going to get some elite talent into club.

Yeah fair. As always, have faith in Hamish

I agree with this .....requires a ruthless approach to your list and moving players B4 they get to the end of their footy life usefulness

The AFC is still using a pre-2000 list model

Crouch is the $600k that saves us $200k with Hately. Gibbs is being paid in full in 2021. No savings there yet.
No, the reason you retire a player is it allows you to roll future payments into the current year to clear them off your cap.

Otherwise, Bryce could have just pretended he might go around again. As a retiree he can't - but he's been paid everything he's owed this year.

There is also freeing up a list spot the following year and removing a distraction. It’s not as straight forward as you are suggesting.

Any clarity around Jake Kelly? I assume if there is any truth to that it would be completely reliant on Collingwood shedding at least 2 contracts

he’s obviously not. but he is the only one we’ve got
Brad Crouch is much more damaging, much higher ceiling, harder tackle, better disposal. Matt Crouch is a one dimensional in-and-under inside mid. Both have huge down-sides - running is not a strength of either - Brad is injured - Matt has to be reminded to tackle.

Matt is a good footballer, he'd be in most midfields in the comp as that extractor ... but he's very inflexible which can be a big negative in the wrong team.

Brad is a very good footballer, he'd be in every midfield in the comp ... he has more hurt in his game.

I think we should move Matt on. We need to be blooding in our young players through the middle and I think Matt is a bit of cork in that. We have Sloane, Laird, Keays as the experience in the group - time for the next gen to step up and take over the midfield.

I don’t see Worrell as a KPD down the track, more a wildcard swing man type that can impact in all three parts of the ground

Geez, I wish he made his debut this year, I really rate him
Yeah.. that was actually disgusting that they didnt give Worrell a run in one of those last couple of games..

Can we just do a swap for Stephenson? That should help with their cap issues.

That perfectly sums up the 2 players. If we can trade Matt this year as a per agent we would be mad not to or we will end up with the same FA debacle next year.

There still needs to be space doesn't there? If we're paying our list plus part of Jenkins and Betts salaries then I wonder if there was room. We're still living out the 2017 era contracts
