I'm not shocked at all I just think the minority who fck up & get caught cause this blanket view that every player on the list is tooting every Saturday night.. it's bullshit.

It's completely fine if that's what you believe. However I can say from personal experience that blokes in the AFL who like party drugs are far from the minority.

There are footballers on lists who are as dedicated as Kornes was mate just because you met a few party types doesn't mean they all are, I've sold weed to a former AFL player in the past I'm not completely coloured by it.

You reckon Westy, Robbie, Trav are tooting in their spare time?

I think you're misunderstanding the words minority and majority. Of course there are dedicated players out there who don't touch it. All I'm saying is that the majority (greater then 50%) do.

That's crap it'd be less than 30% most of which would fall in the off-season dabbler category.

If Westy doesn’t own a collection of elaborate bongs I’ll blow Cameron Guthrie.

Have you got Cameron’s number - you might just need it.

Show me the evidence if guys were tooting as much as you all believe there'd be more true casualties. this 'majority' of AFL footballers can all keep their drug use in control and skate the 3 strike thing eh I call bullshit.

Using the 2006 West Coke Eagles Barometer, you are correct. It's not a majority.

Where did I say that?
Well party drugs to me are shit you can walk off from without a craving ie. psychedelics for example, my loose theory of about 30% getting into harder stuff is I'm not seeing hundreds of blokes becoming the next Ben Cousins every year.

Jeezus 25% to 30% is still a big number however.

I'd be shocked if Trav was using recreational drugs. I don't think anybody else on our list would shock me all that much.

Hoff certainly doesn't strike me as a cokehead but there is at least a 99% chance that he gets home after a hard day of training and relaxes with a couple of bong hits. He probably rips one at half time.

I don’t want this to be a pile on, but the AFL’s three strikes policy isn’t worth the paper it’s written on. Also trace amounts of cocaine are basically non existent 24 hours after use (why it’s so popular in pro sports).

Nobody here is saying the majority of players have a full blown habit and are in it every weekend. That’s a construct completely in your own mind. What is being said is the vast majority of players get on it infrequently throughout the year.

Ben Cousins was getting stuck in 1-2 times a week, every week from the age of 18. There would be hardly any players using to that extent.

Majority would just dabble every now and then, particularly during off season where there is no risk of match day illicit drug positives and they want to let their hair down without blowing out their skinfolds with a dozen pints.

It's total guesswork but on a list of 45, I'd be surprised if 35 hadn't dabbled at some point in the past 12 months.

In hindsight, perhaps, the Chad trade was just good list management as dissapointing as it was at the time - I note that Clarkson hasn't seen a surge in his output.

Probably needs to be normalised for the shorter quarters this year (and take out kicks/handballs which are already covered by disposals and put in say score involvements or goal assists).

Hard to quantify his impact on the team performance (and it could easily be a coincidence) but his lack of team success over the past 6 years can't go unsaid.

List management had some balls at the time and right now they deserve all the credit for where we are.
