One of those is not the same as the others. Farrell has a long way to go to convince me of anything. One good game in 7. Time for him to show some attack on the ball and intensity.

Agreed.
Amon and duursma have some runs on the board.
Farrell isn't setting the world on fire and bergman hasn't even debut yet.
Polec for a pick in the 20s and half salary would be brilliant haha

What is this boards fascination with past players.

he’s moved on and I wish like **** you would as well.

we let him go for a reason. There’s a whole league of players out there and more coming in. Focus on the future not the past.

much rather use our draft picks to draft players that want to play for port.

This. Davis or Tarrant would cost us very little as a stop-gap until our developing KPDs come through.
You think Phil Davis and Robbie Tarrant would cost us very little? On that I guess we should say good bye to Charlie Dixon, any other team in need of a forward should be able to grab a 29 year old one cheap.

It might be a savvy but potentially unpopular move to trade Ladhams while he holds high value, if we have made a judgment call that the keys will eventually be handed to Hayes. Smart, high performing clubs make these sort of moves over time. (It could also be applied vice versa)
That would be St Kilda trading away Ben McEvoy levels of stupid.

Dixon and Davis are 30 turning 31 next season. Tarrant 32 next season. History shows that players at this age (except potential GOAT Ablett-pick 20), command little at the trade table. The trick is to get them to want to leave their current club. This being the case Tarrant would be the obvious target to pry out of a North rebuild.

I would give Brisbane anything for Harris Andrews 201cm and 100kg.
Nick Haynes, GWS absolute gun.
Robbie Tarrant North Melbourne will be looking to get rid of a few players.
From left field, Alex Rance retired last year but only 30 years old and part of a very successful Richmond side.

Rance did quit with a couple of good years left in him but not sure he’d be real keen to line up at another club? Maybe Wayne Carey as an example?

Regardless of needing a tall defender, we need more class in the midfield. Whether Zac Williams is the answer there I'm not sure. I think that in the event we can't get a true A grade speedy mid, then I would continue to add some young small forwards and increase the midfield time for Rozee and Butters.

Heard someone say his disposal by foot in particular is not that great.
All I know is he can find the ball and is reasonably quick.
No idea if he wastes the posessions he gets though = anyone care to comment who has watched him over time?

If Williams is fit and firing he would provide excellent run through the midfield but he isn’t an ‘inside beast’. I’m not quite sure how he would fit into our midfield but am keen to find out!

Hopper and/or Perryman are the ones I would be keen to pry loose. They will add some serious inside strength to our team.

We have great youth but need some 23-28 yr old players to work around them. Mayes and Sutcliffe are playing this role. Menegola, Robinson and Greenwood are all playing this role.

In terms of tall defenders, our defence is team orientated so we really need someone who can play their role and not turn it over by foot. Shut down defenders can be found as mature or late picks. Harrison Petty, Ben Miller, Kreuger, etc could all be options. Grundy too may cover next year.

I wouldn’t be trading rucks, a lot of sides have 3+ and make it work, no reason we can’t. Hayes and Ladhams would know they would be getting 10-20 games next year onwards. Lycett gets injured for a few as well.

Going to float an option.

We trade Clurey at the end of the season. Mature, ready to go defender but he is the number two not number one. We have several ‘number two/three’ defenders and no really lead defender. Could be a way to unlock some other more important trades for us.

Not really a fan of this idea.

We are already thin in terms of key defenders. Trading out Clurey and acquiring another 1 means the net gain is zero. And then if you have to cover for one of the incoming traded player, Jonas or McKenzie, youre looking at playing Pasini or even Grundy if he's still on the list.

If we want to build true list depth we should be adding to our key defender stocks without getting rid of anyone to do so.

Dumbest idea I’ve heard since Brett Burton as high performance manager.

Identify our area of greatest need, then identify our best player under 30 who fills that need then get rid of him for magic beans?

Someone’s been watching too much General Melchitt.

We traded Howard for, allegedly, being average by foot and not meeting the needs of the side, despite him being our only tall defender over 193cm.

McKenzie has shown that defenders can be found readily, as long as they play to the sides needs.

Jonas is best as the leader 2nd, 3rd tall and probably has a good 2-4 years left going by other players in a similar role. McKenzie likewise that 2nd or 3rd tall but who knows how long he has.

Clurey has been our least consistent defender this year. He is played as the number one defender, ie standing Hawkins, but really is best when he takes the number two forward. If Grundy was ready now, who comes out of the side? Clurey would have trade capital and could help facilitate other trades. Our most pressing need is another strong mid, we can find a tall defender, but if Clurey could help net us a Perryman, Hopper, Dow, etc, then that’s a huge gain.

I think he is a good punchy kick. Usually takes good options. He takes the game on so may occasionally cause turnovers but the dude is an A grade player. He certainly isn't a bad kick or ball butcher. As a free agent he is the most obvious target we could ask for.

Even better, we need a tall back. Jackson trengove hasn't been getting a game....
