Lol seriously can we just have a ban on posting things ol clickbait Kornes says…

none of it is interesting and it’s all designed to just stir people up.

Hodgey wants a new rule! Hodgey gets a new rule.

No more clickbait shit from Cornes in here.

Also:
Can we also threadban Rendell quotes. The bloke is senile.
Done ✔️

Everyone wants Callaghan.
Yeh I think GWS will move back on draft night just not too far because they will want to guarantee their target. I think a future suns second gets it done and GWS take a tall. Would mean we are guaranteed one of Hobbs or Ward. Maybe a choice of both.

North- JhF
Suns- Callaghan
GWS - Andrew
Adel - Hobbs/ward/Gibcus/Rachelle
Haw - a choice of three

I feel like our first pick will give us a good insight into where Sam thinks we are currently at with Newk, Worps, Nash and Finn for inside types, or what their ceiling is. On paper, we don't need another inside mid, when we've got such a lack of outside mids in the same age bracket.

If we take Hobbs or Ward, we know he doesn’t rate too many of the above names as being a part of our next flag window.

Don't think Ward impacts any of those other players, though Hobbs is another matter.

Not as much as Hobbs, but I don't know if we'd be seeing much of Worpel and Newk with Ward in the middle also. They're different, but also not that much different. Perhaps it would work, I'm just not sure.

Ward would start off playing on the forward flank using his outside game, all guessing game atm our midfield rotation will be a totally new look.

Yeah, it's hard to know.

I’ve come up with a new crazy hypothetical, where we grab Andrew, but still get Ward. :rainbow:

With Hawks keen on Erasmus and Freo keen to trade up ahead of us, combine with Hawks wanting more looks at the draft this year, Hawks trade future 1st and Pick 5 to Freo for Pick 6, 8 and 19. Freo can then trade Hawks future 1st back in to first round(which most clubs would think to be a top 5 pick), if they see something else they want.

Essendon currently have 1 pick before 51. Hawks trade Pick 24(26) to Essendon for future 2nd.

Hawks trade pick 19 and Essendon future 2nd to Lions for Pick 14(16) and 41.

Hawks hit the draft with Pick 6, 8, 14, 21 and 41.

1. JHF (north)
2. Callaghan(suns)
3. Gibcus(giants)
4. Rachele (crows)
5. Erasmus (dockers)
6. Andrew
7. Hobbs (tigers)
8. Ward
9. NWM (saints)
10. Amiss (eagles)

.....
14. Sinn ( 🤞 )
21. Clarke
41. Fejo Jnr
:fire:

Yeah I'd be shocked if Freo give 8 and 19 for a future 1st.

If they thought they were getting Erasmus and a future Top 5 pick while they play finals, it would make them think hard.

Yeh righto.

Anyways freo aren't doing that trade when they can keep 6+8 and trade 19 for a future 1st if they want to, teams will come hard at the end of day 1 for that pick .
Theres a couple of things you’ve overlooked.

Freo really like Erasmus, and there’s been some mail that they’d try to get up the draft to nail him.

If we offered them our future first it’s not the same as Melbourne or Lions offering there’s. Freo would definitely want ours before 3 quarters of the clubs in the league, and I highly doubt clubs like North, Suns or Crows would be open to trading a future first.

They’d be handing over Pick 19, yes, but they’d have Hawthorns 2022 in their hands to trade back into the draft at a better spot than their original pick 19 if they wished, with Mayo on top.

Meanwhile, we back ourselves in to continue to develop and rise.

Come the end of 2022, the Pick that Freo got from us that they thought would be Pick 4 ends up being Pick 13, and Hawthorn have just surged up the ladder on the back of a new coach and a rejuvenated midfield that’s been buoyed by the addition of a bunch of kids, ala Essendon this year. Hypothetically.

Brant if we entered next year with no first, but we’d landed 3 picks inside 15 this year, landed just inside the 8 and then scored Tim Taranto as a FA would that offset not having a first rounder?

Why Strapping Young Lad I'm glad you asked...

You wanna get crazy? Let's get crazy!

Purples give 6 + 8 + 19 for our 5 + 24 + Future 1st.

We take 6 + 8 + 19 + 21 to the draft:

6 = Sinn (Wing / Outside Mid)
8 = Rachele (sp.) (FWD / MID)
19 = Goater / Knevitt / Wilmot (big Inside/Outside Mid - Wilmot as a FWD/MID option)
21 = Taylor (Small Forward)

Then we take that sweet pot of salary-cap cash to market & buy ourselves a Darcy Moore as Full Back or The Tarantula 🕷 as a primary midfielder for the next 6-8yrs (if he's a FA - I'm not sure - feels too soon but I've not checked).

*not quite 3x Picks within 15 but it's a sweet-ass haul all the same.

**thanks to The German Hunter for the FA idea! #duet #forthefans

This draft is a beauty IMO.
2022 better be a really good one if we're not trading that first into this draft.
Maybe it’s just me. But I’m not that hyped on this draft. Has the potential to be a good draft. But it’s not one I’m selling the farm to get into.

The vic prospects this year have played minimal footy for two years. I can see some decent later pick ups this year. But next year a full top year will be very nice to get a good luck at all prospects. Gives plenty of time to work out who the top prospects are.

How Sinn, Sonsie and Callaghan would have faired with a full year we won’t ever know.

How would everyone feel if we traded out 21+24 for a pick in the teens to nab one of Sinn/Sonsie/Johnson/Goater?

Ward + Sonsie would be massive, but understand how some might feel Taylor + Roberts > Sonsie.
Not the thread for it. But I feel the difference between picks 15 and our seconds are minimal this draft. What’s much more important this year is how good the talent scouts are.

Next year's 1st + our 2x picks in the 20s this year.
GWS' pick 2 + something in the late 20s/early 30s this year.

Callaghan + Ward would be a great success.

5+ Future First for 2+13

Gws get two top 10 Picks and still get the option of Andrews or Gibcus

We get Callaghan and a Sinn type.

I don’t think you can trade a further first and a future second from the same draft unless you bring in either another future first or second. Ie you can trade either your future first or any number of picks from subsequent rounds but both at the same time.

pies traded out both their future first and second round pick but they had acquired a future second from the dogs. We have one pick for each round so can make a trade of a future pick but I’m not sure we can do the whole set of trades you propose.
