I am now of the opinion, if we can't land one of the X-Factor players in
Rachelle, Andrew or Callaghan, we should strongly consider splitting the pick.
Anything that keeps us in the range of Ward, Hobbs, Erasmus, Johnson, Sinn, NWM
but nets us some extra assets could be worth it

Who would be the player we trade a future 1st for if they’re still on the board at Freos first or second pick?

I completely concur...But who is said club that is happy to move up? Freo 6 or 8 & 19 unlikely.. Tigers 7 & 15...no 7 & mid 20's potentially.. GC's choice between Mac and Gibcus looks key if GWS are now set for Callaghan and Crows look likely for Rachelle unless they trade down. If Mac is available at our pick I hope we take him.

Assuming we take one of Ward / Hobbs at 5, then I'd trade a F1st for:
Sinn
Rochelle (if we end up drafting him, I'll learn to spell his name)
Andrew
I'd try for:
Freo Pick 8 + Pick 19 + F4th for HFC Pick 24 + F1st + F3rd
We end with 5 + 8 + 19 + 21
Technically, we’re losing currency trading back into this draft. Current or live selections come at a premium cost; teams aren’t giving away an adjacent pick, or like for like pick across the two drafts i.e Pick 8 in 2022 for pick 8 in 2021. It’s much more likely to be Pick 8 for perhaps Pick 16. Moreover, a club needs an enticing offer to give up their valued selection.
Ward and Sinn would be an epic haul.
Just imagine if we nail one of or both of the second rounders as well.

Gibcus I doubt gets to our pick, Suns or Adelaide surely nab him.
Every time I hear Gibcus I think of Jim Carrey's character in The Mask 'Stanley Ipkiss'
If we end up drafting him and he turns it over then I will be forced to say 'nice one Ipkiss'

Or Andrew. Or Sinn. All have elite athletic attributes, can play footy and good characters. All guys if developed can win you finals. Really interested to see which way we go. Given selection of Day and Seamus expect we’ll go with higher risk/reward.
New road to the draft podcast had some interesting comments. Twomey said he is getting the feeling from clubs that GWS now take Callaghan and that Gold Coast could lean towards Andrew if he is there. With Hawthorn he suggested the talk is midfielder with Matt Johnson still being mentioned in that Hawthorn have done plenty of work on him. Ward also the other spoken about
