Meh, just use this thread for now. I can see these 5 in my round 1 team

Sicily
M Crouch, N Daicos
Darcy
Duncan
ooo, Duncs with FWD eligibility is noice

I'm thinking:

Lloyd, Heppell or Ridley
Neale, MCrouch, Yeo or Rowell, N.Daics, (FinMac)
Grundy, Darcy
Marshall, English, maybe Jackson, maybe De Koning

Will do things pretty much like this year, seemed to work out OKish.

The Defenders tm will be back in full force next year rookie dependent though.

Hopefully we get 2 cheap keepers like ZeiGull and Impey to hold down forward spots again, we truly were KOTD this year in that regard.

M5 will be a bit more of a solid keeper this year at the expense of a cheaper F3.

Not starting any injury concerns like Cripps Neale only studs that are killing the preseason.

...oh and the Byes...they better not be messed around again or a encore of puppies will definitely be on the cards.

Why don't we have a 2022 planning thread?!
There's less than 2 months to go!
Last year it was opened once SC finals commenced. Would think probably similar this year.

Yeah but it gets boring around these parts when everybody starts conserving or running out of trades

Ones I'm keen on atm
Lloyd, Lucosius
Rowell, N Daicos, Horne, Steele, Lyons, Bont, Petracca
Grundy, Darcy, Preuss
English, Marshall, Jackson, Rozee

Wonder where the rookies will be next year, hopefully there are a few good defenders so we can start more evenly spread. It worked out OK this year with Ziebell/Impey/Daniher being so cheap up forward. Might not be so lucky next year.

The articles on this year's draft that I have read suggest there will be a lot of mid's in the first round, so it could be the year to start one short in midfield and load up on rookies there. Lots of mid/fwd's would be lovely.

Anyway early thinking would be

Def: Ridley, Stewart, Luko d/m is interesting, Sicily depending on his discount hawks have a few good players in his role though.
Mid: Macrae, Lyons, Steele locks, then 1 or 2 more of Parish/Miller/Bont/Neale/Walsh. Noah Anderson a break out chance, especially with eyes on Rowell. Mrouch depending on price.
Ruck: Grundy, Darcy, no Max unless Jackson goes down LTI.
Fwd: Dunks (doubt he's a fwd) Danger, Marshall, Jackson, English all possible, the year of the R/F. Butters, Rozee if fit.

We do .....but Uncle has it locked ....think pincrusher is correct, around SC Finals time

I have put a copy of Hamez post on likely positional changes for 2022 into the 2022 planning thread ......it’ll be a good conversation starter for when the chains are taken off the thread

With the amount of 120 mids this year, I’ll be starting with as many as possible

Yeah I agree, midfield is where the points are. Trouble is it's usually where the best rookies are too.

Also history suggests that this year's top 10 mid's won't all back it up. Picking the right ones is the game. I like AB's 3 year average theory, reckon that works well. I personally like the blokes that are likely to play 22 matches. Those two factors, and KOTD of course.

There's also info that this years Draft has been compromised due to the mid-season Draft .....a lot of players that would have been taken in this Draft, have already been drafted to clubs

Those drafted players will have an advantage, with being in the AFL system 6 months longer than 2021 National Draft Draftees

The Crows player Parnell has big wraps .....and after an injury ridden season, Cook is now killing it in the SANFL, kicking 4 goals last weekend

Hopefully some more m/f rooks next year!

My 3 Year Average theory was a bust in the Mids unfortunately with 5 of the current Top 8 (Mid Only's) not featuring in last years Top25 Mids for highest 3 Year Averages and all up 18 of this years top 30 averaging Mids listed below weren't in the Top40 overall 3 year averages.

Parish #3
Steele #4
Lyons #5
Miller #6
Walsh #8
---------------
Guthrie #10
Cunnington #12
Wines #14
Boak #15
Mundy #17
Brayshaw #18
Selwood #19
Libba #20
Taranto #21
Keays #24
McCluggage #26
Greenwood #27
JOM #30

Not sure if the formula needs a tweak or not since this is Steele & Lyons 2nd consecutive SP season so both should feature prominently in next year list, whilst Touk & Walsh might even be close to next years Top15 mids by 3 Year average as well. Definitely been a changing of the guard type season as far as Uber & SP Mids go. It will be interesting to see if Parish in particular can back it up next year once Shiel/McGrath/Caldwell come back in or whether Rowell's rise will help or hinder Touk. Walsh should also cop a lot more attention from here on and will need to learn to handle the hard tag. Interesting times ahead.
