‘Not a great look’: Dangerfield makes shock VFL appearance despite three-game ban
‘Not a great look’: Dangerfield makes shock VFL appearance despite three-game banwww.foxsports.com.au
Suspended Geelong star Patrick Dangerfield made a surprise appearance in the club’s VFL side on Saturday afternoon.
The move was ticked off by the AFL that allowed Dangerfield to play in the official state league practice match, despite his three-game ban beginning over the weekend.
That's disgraceful. If a player's suspended he/she doesn't get to play any football for the whole period of suspension. Should be a serious discussion about this. How was that ticked off?
I read something about it but thought it was some joke..

I thought it was actually a rule? The AFL have become a joke.
So next time we have a player suspended, we can play them in the sanfl.
Just remember... the higher they get, the harder the fall. They're going to be coming on here in droves tonight aren't they?
Yuck.
Practice match, so... but not a good look.I thought it was actually a rule?
Has it been or have we just been fooled into thinking it was?
Not bad for a category B rookie hey?Dusty just got Dustied, and couldn't do a thing about it.
He looked like he was saying WTF!Dusty just got Dustied, and couldn't do a thing about it.
Why are people surprised by this. The AFL will almost always seek to maximise crowds/tv audiences at the expense of “fairness”... and while it might hurt as a Crows fan that Port are a genuinely good side at the moment, the reality is that no one outside Adelaide gives the remotest of sh**s about them... they are on a par with Freo/GC in terms of generating any kind of interest for the average football follower. The AFL aren’t going to waste valuable double up games against gun teams on what are essentially dud viewing experiences - according to the average football follower...What’s even odder is that the other 3 from last years prelims all have double ups against each other whereas Port have none.
Not bad for a category B rookie hey?
Came through Gippy Power/Xavier College, always looked like he was a genuine chance to have an AFL career, Ethiopian heritage.Yeah, who is that guy? He looks very good: he can football, as well as being athletic.
Sudanese apparently, but born in an Ethiopian refugee camp.Came through Gippy Power/Xavier College, always looked like he was a genuine chance to have an AFL career, Ethiopian heritage.
There was another player recently which the AFL allowed too, Geelong didn’t set the precedent. Zac Williams was allowed to play in a practice game last week while suspended.Every other team should complain.
Stengle played in a SANFL trial GamesOur players aren’t allowed to play SANFL are they?
Brad crouch is on the sidelines?
Pretty simple I reckon, danger still has 3 games to serve.
I'll take your word for it, I just recall Ethiopia was mentioned several times in stories on Jaith in his draft year.Sudanese apparently, but born in an Ethiopian refugee camp.
That’s really more relevant to the VFL competition integrity though.Practice match, so... but not a good look.
