Maybe the clubs should work together.

We'll publically support Port's bid for the showdowns to have "heritage round" status and in exchange they will agree to name the showdown medal the "Phil Walsh" medal.
...and allow the Crows to wear the state jumper.

The great thing is they (Port) can’t really take any legal action given they owe $$$ to the AFL.

You seriously have to wonder about the intellect of the management of the PAFC - they signed a agreement to wear it once in their 150th year. They signed an agreement and now they don’t want to honour that agreement.

Seriously, they carry on like a drug addict. Always want more and more.

**** em!

If the Walsh family agree, that should happen.

I don't understand the AFL' s hypocrisy on this.

Us, Brisbane and Gold Coast all have similar jumpers/colours. No issue.

If all jumpers need to be distinct (to protect branding), why do clash jumpers exist?

There should be no issue in Port wearing this jumper in any game that is not against Collingwood. And maybe St Kilda?

Because Collingwood.

Well said.

This should be a Australia against the VFL issue.

You can check my posting history, I'm not at all advocating it as hard as others, however it's more the principle of a vocal minority controlling the League.

It's things like VFL teams with pissweak alternate jumpers etc etc. It's all the other injustices in the comp.

I frankly love the new Guernsey, but no one should be able to dictate to others, I doubt most clubs would act like Eddie has.

So when it's to Port's advantage you think other the teams should have a united front, but during instances like the Bryce Gibbs father/son fiasco (which I believe was instigated by Rucci) most of your supporters were all encouraging the AFL to screw over our club.

You can't just cherry pick these things and expect unity when it suits you, especially when people like Rucci have history of deliberately trying to undermine our club behind the scenes.

I'm not trying to be rude or dismissive, but maybe if your club had some goodwill credits in the bank then maybe other clubs would be far more willing to come to your aid.

Does anyone have any clarity around eddies comments around Teal?
Something along the lines of "did you take the money to go with Teal"?

Made me think there was a deal between port and collingwood when port were entering the AFL?

I get what you said, but that's not the club.

As I said, I'm not looking at it on this case though, more just as a whole.

It's not like many other supporters don't agree too, it's easy to gang up on Eddie, esp atm. This was a golden opportunity.

It was a condition of allowing Port's entry to the competition - they weren't allowed to use black & white vertical stripes (i.e. the prison bars), which is why they were forced to add teal to their playing colours.

Imagine if Port didn't stab the SANFL in the back when they were holding out and refusing to join? We might have been able to negotiate something that didn't result in us having zero say in the VFL competition we ended up joining.

That might have been better.
Soooo much this short memories down at Port, now they want collaboration, **** off

So nothing can change because of a contract?

Are we still playing games at West Lakes?

There was a contract in place that 22 AFL games are played there each year.

Times change.

The way I see it, the AFL should not have such agreements/contracts in place. It favours one club over another.

Port want to use this jumper to generate a bit of coin. For a club in such poor financial shape it is a no brainer to dust off this jumper and get some sales.

Yes Collingwood want to protect their brand. They have every right to do so.

But the AFL are supposed to protect the interests of all 18 clubs. The hit Collingwood take in Port wearing this jumper for two games is minimal, would not be noticed.

However for Port it can mean an uplift of revenue by $100k plus. With such tight margins it makes a bit of a difference.

Overall it is a positive for the league. Port have more inventory to sell, may need less money from AFL House.

Making a decision soley on what Collingwood want is myopic.

They can change if both parties agree or if there's a time limit on the contract. Collingwood doesn't agree. So that's that. Port should have negotiated for an exit clause at the time

Sounds like there was money involved in that from eddies statement.

Would make sense why it's such an issue with collingwood?

Total speculation on my part.

Imagine having a club president that was like eddie..absolutely eviscerates anyone attacking his club and knows how to manipulate the powers to be at the AFL...contrast that to Trigg
Trigg wasn’t president....

Who forced Greg Boulton to sign the deal?

If he chose to sign a deal specifying it was a once per year, heritage round only agreement, he left his successors no leeway to argue for twice a year in rounds that they choose.
They just never ever think things through
Ever

they will not beat Ed and the Pies !
There are no prison bars for sale.

The AFL is blocking us from producing either the AFL or the SANFL variety.

they are stopping you from stealing Collingwoods history

your club is a noted hijacker of history

wear your pink one

as for heritage - crows never played against SANFL Magpies

so basically
Stiff shit 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Why are Collingwood part of the decision making process of what Port can wear in a game they are not playing in?

I agree

Even Eddie called them out a couple of weeks ago for being a club that constantly takes and never gives back.

They only want unity when it suits them, but the moment it's no longer convenient for them we all know that they will happily stick in a knife in your back.

That's been their history since 1990 and I am yet to see anything that suggests that they've changed.

Why is China a Fail?

I want Port to play in Wuhan.:$
That would be lovely 🤣 actually

Just listening to them bang on about heritage and then refuse to wear the pink one is glorious !

Well there are two answers

1) Port are monumentally stupid and entered into a contract that only hurts them

2) Port benefitted at the time the contract was signed and now are trying to have their cake and eat it too

Pick one

If we are talking about the 2007 contract would it be fair to suggest the contract is rescinded once Heritage Round stops?

The contract explicitly states Heritage Round.

Once that ceases, the contract is null. The AFL effectively ending a contract term.

If we are talking about the 2019 one to wear that jumper last year, Koch said there was a caveat for future negotiations.

The AFL also allowed them to wear the jumper for the 2020 Showdown, contrary to the 2007 contract.

Beside all that, why do Collingwood have any involvement in this?

AFL own the IP.

I just don't see how this decision is for the good of the league overall, just Collingwood. The AFL are supposed to protect all 18 clubs. Not just one.
