Good point.

Ken is not a great coach, but great at positioning the image of himself as a great coach. Especially in the eyes of the Port decision makers.

And good luck to him. He has milked about $6m in salary from Port in 10 seasons being mediocre.

does it worry you that 6 out of 7 years that Nicks was a ciach before coming to us was under Hinkley?

Charlie Dixon is the quintessential sporting example of a flat-track bully.

his extension never looked that good. He'd had a good first half to the year but wasn't delivering much when he git 3 more years. That said, watch us do the same with Tex based on 4 weeks when his body was in great nick.

On queue, non Victorian wanting to leave a Vic club and now we want to talk about loyalty clauses.
Didn’t Sloane actually bring this up around the time he signed.
The media didn’t run with it then.

Yes it does.

I said when he was appointed this has been a concern and a few times last year.

Adding Burns, Rahilly and even VB to the coaches box made me feel better.

If I am honest I am not a Nicks fan.

Exhibit A of what 40+ year old guys look like wearing a footy jumper in the stands.

And what these guys "think" they look like:

And then you have Froggy, shorts and all

There's no doubt that our support group is greatly improved. I'm worried that Burns has never presented a compelling case for a senior coaching gig and that VB is tainted heavily with the philosophies of Neil. Reading Laird's quotes in the advertiser he talks about the midfield but only mentions Sloane and Keays. No mention of the kids having a crack and earning their stripes here and there.

I do believe though if Nicks is not the right guy, our club will move him on.

They moved Pyke on. Yes they had to, but they made the right call.

Pyke is a far better coach than Hinkley.

Nicks won't be a 9 year head coach with only 3 Finals wins.

They desperately need a top 2 finish, was almost enough for them last year. Not sure they get it this year.
They also desperately need to not meet the Dees in a finals game..

If the dees are up the top end this year and look likely.. the AFL will definitely pull out all the stops to give them every opportunity to win the flag.. it will be #FreekickDees just as it was for the the tigers in 2017 and the dogs before that.. guaranfknteed.

A dees win will bring all the old dees supporters, that have been hiding for decades now, out of the woodwork and openning their wallets to hand over their hard earned. Just as we have seen with the tigers and dogs supporters in recent years. Before 2017 the tigers were drawing pissant crowds... now they can fill the G for big clashes and have 90,000 members.

The AFL has a business first.. competition fairness second model. Its all about the customers and getting more of them to part way with their coin.

So accurate it is frightening.
