It's not exactly 24 hours before, it's the night before.

Thurs teams are released at ~6:20pm on Wed night
Fri teams are released at ~6:20pm on Thurs night
Sat arvo teams are released at ~6:20pm on Fri night
etc

So in round 1, the most important time is ~6:20pm on Saturday night, when the Sunday teams are released, but the Saturday night matches haven't started yet

I will probably have to lock in my team playing on Saturday night, and then worry about the Sunday teams on Sunday morning, and hope I can adjust if I got donuts coming

How bloody good that I'll be half way through a practice game in a small town that probably has no mobile service. Literally have to run with whatever my team is from about 2pm on the Saturday.

How will the naming of sides 24 hours before the games start impact our opening round team selections?

Thursday and Friday games are fine, they wont matter too much. That being said if Lloyd doesn't come up will we have enough time to swap him for Daniel before the bounce Friday? The Swans game starts 23 hours and 55 mins after the Dogs.

Thats just a small example of something we gotta prepare for. Im on arvos this week I think I will take Friday off. Love me a three-day weekend.
