List Mgmt. 2021 Trade Targets

Did you see our forward 50 kicks tonight? Those scrubbers/over heads/miss the target by 15m and hit a bulldogs player on the tit. A composed left foot kick is exactly what we needed. Added he can actually get two hands to the ball not like Ladhams or Houston. Dawson wont be our answer to the centre square that comes with taking Gray and Boak out of there.
Poor kicks aren’t the root of the problem tho is it?

Some of the best kicks in the league were responsible for many of those kicks.

We bring dawson in, make the same mistakes. Why would he be any different.

(This isnt saying we don’t bring him in, but I disagree with the sentiment that bringing in a great kick fixes the problem)

Trade them all!

look throw big money at Cerra, Guthrie, etc.

And remove Ken. Sadly, he doesn’t win us a flag.
Guthrie? What ? The 29yr old hack disposal ball accumulator that went to water against melb and looked like the stat padder he is that just signed a long term contract at geelong?

Lol.

We need to hit the draft for genuine centre mids if possible

And

Next year we need to unearth a centre mid or two from butters / rozee / Bergman and discover if spp is a future midfielder or get rid of him.

Lycett doesn't get the job done for us. We have to put some time into Ladhams and Hayes.

Someone has to teach Ladhams how to mark. He's as bad as Dixon for flat handing the ball.

He's a freaking big guy, he should be swallowing overhead marks.

Which centre square mid are we getting at the embarrassing pick of 16 that’s going to turn our fortunes?

Guthrie was an example. Point is that our midfield is getting a lot worse very quickly with the decline or absence of Boak, Gray and Rockliff. Suggesting that pinch hitting Rozee or Butters or Duursma will make us better is naive, if you want us to win a flag soon and make good on Dixon, Gray, Boak and Jonas, then we need a big pick alongside Wines.

Now making calls after we didn’t turn up in a final is fraught with danger. We are all livid at that performance and embarrassed to be frank. Some caution is needed. However, it’s clear we don’t have the midfield power and that we need it now. Get someone alongside Wines now

Our marking in general tonight and on other occasions lets us down. Houston and Bergman must have dropped 8 between them.

2 year plan.

We are a good game plan, and 2x elite full time mids short of winning a GF. Many of our old players are past their best, and in some ways are list cloggers.

This off season, trade Dixon, Lycett, Jonas, Hartlett, and do it for the best next year picks as possible.

Next year, enforce Ken to play a youth policy, which will help see out the contracts of Rob, Boak, Mckenzie, and get games into Hayes, SPP as a mid, Mead, Pasini, etc.

Effectively, kill Kens career, by tanking and recruit Alistair Clarkson. S Burgoyne is back and they are good mates. Bring Clarko back.

2022 off season, with Clarko, use his master coach tag to bring in some free agents, and attack the draft with some seriously decent picks and draft capital.

We've got 2 forwards MG and Marshall. We have 2 in Hayes and Lord who Hayes part time and Lord full time will move into the forward line and there's Ladhams.

I'd be asking what we can get for Charlie.

Anyone thinking Hayes is trade bait should be forced to watch last night's game again.

I really don't get how anyone, including the club, could look at last nights game and think that we need to trade draft picks + allocate significant salary cap space for Dawson. He is an icing player and we are missing lots of cake. And more cake will be going out the door. He is a 20-30% improvement on Bonner (maybe less on last nights evidence), and as we can now see the Bonner position is fairly inconsequential to whether we win or lose the game.

At best it's a Geelong/Carlton type move where you continually top a list which is not good enough. At worst it is an Adelaide move where you sell the farm and completely ruin any chance of having a quick rebuild.

If we are setting up a new era for a new coach can please we give that coach all the tools he needs to succeed.

1st pre-season game I want to see how Hayes in the ruck with a fwd line of Georgiades, Marshall and Ladhams goes.

We need to add a gun mid desperately and also another key defender/fwd in my opinion. Gray is done, boak has maybe 1-2 years left max. Wines and drew are absolute locks going ahead of course but we need to add some class around them. Is Zak Butters that? I sure hope so. With a full pre season and no injuries maybe even Rozee could be too. I wouldnt want to rely on these two tho.

Not any more.
Merrett or Parker would have been nice.
Desperately need Rozee and Butters to step up in the midfield.
Maybe Lachie Jones can go in there ?

Really hard to see where big improvements come from next year.
This is Ports problem - we think flankers can automatically become AFL elite midfielders - it just doesn't happen that way. Bulldogs have recruited genuine midfielders for years and are loaded up. Jones as a midfielder is laughable... he hopefully becomes a decent, reliable defender.

arguably our greatest midfielder in the AFL gray was drafted as a flanker

It's almost as if Ladhams was trying to flat hand the ball last night - a tactic from our forward coach!?

No I think this one is on him. Too often he has a clear marking opportunity and he just seems to panic and turns into Edward Scissorhands.

It cant be a coincidence anymore. Dixon, Ladhams & Marshall. They all try this far too often. The only guy that actually goes for his marks every time like a true forward is Georgiades. Probably because he plays with raw instinct and Bassett hasnt been able to turn him into a usless hack yet.

Both Rozee and Butters we’re mids pre AFL, Rozee pushed to half back in his under 18 year but at under 16 was the best mid in the county.

Be lucky to get a future fourth and a half-eaten packet of Smith's Barbecue chips back.

You're offering:
  • A 31-year-old key forward with concrete hands who can't (or won't, doesn't matter at this stage) lead, and who's recently decided to start competing for marks with one hand instead of two.
  • A 29-year-old ruckman who just got outclassed by Tim English and a Stef Martin so old and fragile he's basically canopic jars held together with scotch tape.
  • A 31-year-old slow as shit and critically undersized key defender.
  • A 31-year-old half back flanker whose best shot at regular footy next year is to retire and join Broadbent and Gibbs at South Adelaide.
Can't wait to see the offers roll in.
