Hold onto spp imo. He’s contracted and we’ve played his value down this year. If he had played midfield clubs would have to offer a pretty spicy pick for him.

prefer to back him in next year and worst case he leaves ooc for a 3rd or 4th round pick, what have we lost?

if west coast want him this year I would want their future 2nd and 4th at the very least (what pick 30 something and 60 something?)

picks after 30 this year aren’t that useful to us imo.

No he is not.
Not even close
Are you two nuts?

Jordan Clark - a flanker unable to crack a game with a top 4 team.

Peter Ladhams - a ruck forward that is best 22 for a top 4 team.

There are currently 4 competent ruck forwards in the AFL (Jackson, English, Ladhams, Wright).

Every single team has at least 2 flaky flankers that can't crack the side. How much would you pay for Farrel? They're pretty much the same player.

Are you confusing Jordan Clark for someone else?
Clark is the player Geelong picked in they super draft we got rozee / butters / duursma in,

they played him most of his first year before they dropped him and they’ve since refused to play him (11 games across two years since they dropped him late in his first year). They’ve since stated that they won’t play him cause he doesn’t even bother trying to defend, someone raised he has some light attitude issues (vaguely think it might have been C4 when he mentioned we might be interested but might have been someone else) and Geelong went out and recruited several pensioners and have played them over him.

he’s a 14d half back flanker criticised for not defending or working hard enough.

Geelong are just playing hardball cause they spent a high pick in a strong draft on him imo

Maybe so, but if Ladhams is gone, who leads the first ruck when if Lycett is out? Obviously for a short period you would give the job to Hayes, but he is untried at AFL level and it would be a big ask to expect him to step straight up and carry the first ruck for an extended period. And then if Hayes gets injured, we're back in Trengove leading the ruck territory.

Tbh if it got to that point I think we’d have to use Dixon in the ruck and play a Finlayson, Marshall, Georgiades forward line.

Would give us a good look at how the forward line functioned without Dixon too.

Lycett stood up to Ken and got dropped to the magoos for a few weeks.
Seems to be in the good books these days!
Pete just needs to throw everything into this pre season. His natural improvement (seen in the back half of this season) should see him pass Scooter during 2022.
Didn't Lycett get 6 Magarey Medal points for those 2 games he played with the 2's and also one of those games coincided with that infamous game against North Melbourne at Marvel. Goldstein made a mockery of Big Pete and that flaky ex-full forward of their's kicked 10 goals. Perhaps the players were giving Kenny a message?
Earlier Dan H was in the bad books with Kenny when he publicly let everyone know of his annoyance in being dropped from the starting 22 and being replaced by Jasper!!! that's right Jasper!! I think he had a fair point! that's Dan of course!!

I said Clark is not even close to lahdams 🤷

Can you post the cliff bites version for me Ford, pretty please 😜

Only because it's you ;)

Some babble about Kane's fake Tinder profile

Finlayson - how he helps Port. Depth (forward line), 40+ goals in a season for third round pick, competition for spots, can ruck. Charlie getting older, younger developing key forwards. Smooth discussions with Giants, we have good relationship. Don't need to hold players up unnecessarily. No need to hold up deals, clubs dealing with us think they get fair deal.

Ladhams - who put it on agenda? Club, Pete, truth in the middle? Truth always somewhere in the middle. We don't think we can provide him spot right now he wants to play in. We think he can progress either at Port or another club. Pete told he can explore his options, not that he should. Not being pushed out door. An amicable situation.

SPP - in same situation. Wants more midfield time, but we have other players we want to throw in that mix. He can look, doesn't mean deal will be done. Interest in SPP from a couple of places.

Players need clarity in exit interviews.

Kane finds Ladhams hard to value. Port right to value him highly. CD says market will determine his value. Contracted, significantly developed at Port, will be good player. We want to get as much as we can from a deal, but market will determine his worth.

History of what we do, deal to be done, we get it done.

Right now, we are not thinking either of these players is going to go and we think they have a role to play next year. For them to leave we expect something beneficial in short and long term.

It’s too long IMO.if it was organised and led by women it would be done and dusted in no more than 3 days!

With matching handbags and shoes! :p

The GC pick swap/salary dump trade leaves them with an enormous warchest of picks in 2022- a good draft to target. They have also freed up salary.

Doesnt this mean it will be nearly impossible to get King, Lukosius and Rankine out of them now or next year? They don’t need picks and can match any salary. They will want players of equal age and ability. No club will swap players of equal age and ability and even if there were some, those players would not agree to go. Their likely ladder position means nominating for the draft or psd won’t be an option either.

If Port’s master plan was Lukosius or Rankine, today’s deal may be the end of that plan.

We should not trade Ladhams or SPP this year (except for the exceptional deal that in reality won’t come). If we have to trade them, do it next year. This year is a year of few trades because salary caps have been lowered and this draft is the worst ever. I say that because there is so little exposed form due to COVID. Even last year had exposed form from 2019 to go on. We have had no real Nationals for two years now. Go back through history and see how many stars of the U16 Nationals make it. I remember Pascoe from Norwood being a star at that level. He has disappeared from the face of the earth.

We are better off cashing in these two players next year when Nationals reappear, there is a full TAC season and clubs are more willing to trade.

Lukosius is out of contract and coming home next year.

Idk what’s more boring, listening CD talk about trades or listen to any Bassett interview
No, I find him one of the more fascinating interviewees out there. No wasted words, often more in what he doesnt say than what he does - a point often missed by the journos. I hang on every word. You can just about see his cricketing background when he speaks - plays with a straight bat!

Should we go for Michael Hartley as free agent?

On Nokia XR20 using BigFooty.com mobile app

It's a fire sale!

Carlton are getting a bargain.
Cerra is a solid midfielder at worst, a very good midfielder at best and freo spent pick 5 on him and are barely recuperating that back years later.

Cerra is still young
Blues have spent a dozen first rounder trying to find a mid. A long list of busts. Any time they can trade for one that’s already made it they should.
