But what is your point? That we should get rid of them both for nothing?

Ladhams is a 23 year old Ruckman who is one of the best at his age level. Its just unfortunate we have another very strong Ruckman on the list. As a second ruck he did a decent job this year.

SPP had a mediocre year following some offield issues but was strong last year. What's the point of getting rid of him now for nothing?

If we can get a first rounder or something under 25 for Ladhams then I wouldn't classify that as nothing. Especially considering we took him in the rookie draft.

SPP has off field issues every year and I can't see him ever being a significant part of the midfield with Rozee, Butters, Duursma, Drew, etc coming through. Have to realise when it comes time for both parties to mutually split rather than him playing SANFL all season and losing even more value.

Pete stood up to Ken verbally mid season. Ken didn't like it and now wants him gone. Pete wants to stay living here and loves Port, just doesn't love the coach.

Pete should stand his ground. He has a contract and chances are he might just outlast Kenny.

That would fit with the type of character Hinkley appears to be if so **** him lil Pisty and stay

Ladhams has some well noted deficiencies but he's 23. Not many rucks or KPFs are dominating at that age and many look average until they hit their mid 20s and then bang.

I'd keep him and back him in to develop. If he can work on his forward craft and spend all offseason working on his marking, he could be an absolute weapon for us. He moves like a much smaller player and knows where the goals are when he's not tied to a KPF role.
Agreed but if what we are hearing is true and there is a rift between him and Hinkley, I would think best he moves on, saking Ken would be my preference but that's not going to happen any time soon.

I wouldn't have done this deal. It was reported as a giveaway when North were involved.

Still seems a massive giveaway in Freo's favour to me. Presuming that pick 19 goes to Geelong for Clark, Freo essentially get Clark and Brodie for next year's 2nd.

Suns get what, more cap space and a couple more picks next year but lose an end of first rounder to do it.

How did we not get in on this , would have got some midfield help and a extra first.

happy days.

It wouldn't suit us as we've already off-loaded a future pick.

A future second round pick from Freo could be juicy, Brodie isn't much chop and a pick in the 20s this year is unlikely to be an impact player next year.

GC don't have much use for picks this year, but they could be loaded for next year.

If that is true it makes kern sound like a kid in a schoolyard playground, if the club gives Ladhams away over BS like that the player will be 25 and coming into his prime by the time the coach should be on the scrap heap.

I believe a club needs 3 genuine ruckmen on their list, it's not that long ago our lead ruck was the Prince Harry lookalike who we dragged from West Adelaide's magoos as the last ruckman standing, and his back ups were Westhoff and Trengove who were both regularly smashed by genuine rucks, particularly at centre bounce downs.

If we unload Ladhams we would be left with a 29 yo Lycett, who this season couldn't jump over a jam tin and may have only a few years left in him anyway and an untried Hayes, with a 31 yo Dixon, who could break down at anytime, and Finlayson who is a pinch hitter at best as a ruckman at AFL level as their back ups.

I'm sure the list management team would have a plan in place for Ladhams leaving.

Lycett and Hayes the AFL standard rucks, and then possibly go out and grab another ruckman in the draft or rookie one to lead the Magpies.

So Ladhams, a player who has done nothing in his career but put in mediocre shifts as a forward/ruck, decides to stand up to the senior coach?

I’ve got a better idea Pete - worry about your own game. Plenty enough there to keep you busy.

Lycett stood up to Ken and got dropped to the magoos for a few weeks.
Seems to be in the good books these days!
Pete just needs to throw everything into this pre season. His natural improvement (seen in the back half of this season) should see him pass Scooter during 2022.

Finlayson replaced Dixon/Marshall when they have to pinch hit in the ruck Imo.

Maybe so, but if Ladhams is gone, who leads the first ruck when if Lycett is out? Obviously for a short period you would give the job to Hayes, but he is untried at AFL level and it would be a big ask to expect him to step straight up and carry the first ruck for an extended period. And then if Hayes gets injured, we're back in Trengove leading the ruck territory.
