Tom Mitchell is a good footballer at the right price.

A couple of questions;

Has his output been reduced since his fractured leg?

Two clubs were happy to release him despite his high profile, why?

Because people think adding any kind of mid is enough to bridge the 145 point gap between us and a flag.
Not any kind of mid, but if you're looking for another someone of quality ball extraction to let players like Rozee break from stoppages then why not Mitchell?

And if you want to get to your other point, no one player is going to bridge that gap. Not even if peak Dusty or Grundy or Dangerfield were available.

Let's just stick to developing a midfield around Wines, Drew, Amon, Butters, Rozee, Duursma, Bergman, Mead +/- Jones/Houston please.
If we can bring in a late first-rounder for Ladhams, then use that and our other first round pick to strengthen the young midfield group further.

Us winning a flag in the next 1-2 years depends on Wines replicating his 2021 form, Amon getting a little better especially in the big games, Drew getting more footy but most importantly Butters and/or Rozee becoming high output mids. Wingard, Mitchell, O'Meara would be a step backwards.

If we don't add to our midfield we won't win the flag. Wines is at his peak. Amon is still, at his core, a soft outside player, Drew is a tagger, not sure he has another level, Butters is probably the one most likely to elevate himself, maybe Rozee too, but I have less and less faith in him. Boak won't ever win a flag. Neither will Gray. A sugar hit of Mitchell may snag us one now. Probably not, but maybe. Otherwise we are 3 to 5 years away with some very good drafting a good coach.

Rockliff is not better than Mitchell. Rockliff was an over rated Plodder. I said it 4 years ago when we got him, and I saw nothing that changed my mind.

Well if that’s the case O’Meara is the only one I’d consider

As noted above, Jon Ralph saying Port has shown a preliminary interest in O'Meara, but also that they aren't interested in Mitchell as Wines plays the same role. Sounds fairly sensible.

The Herald Sun didn't even try to grab a headline by mentioning Wingard. Maybe they forgot he used to play for Port. Probably.

Also sounds like it's probably contingent on trading out Ladhams, but that might be just because they're assumes that's happening.
