That's a big call by North. Although the second round pick going back cancels out the Melbourne future first.

I really rate Horne-Francis, but that could easily be two top 4 picks + a second rounder being upgraded a few picks..

The thing that would make north second guess it would be the improvement that could come from a Adelaide team that’s added Horne - Francis and dawson (if he went in the psd which after that trade is the only way he gets there - if he got there)

I really dislike adelaides youth collection but with a great injury run jhf and dawson could propel them up the ladder next year..

ahhhh

so if that’s true, that would mean that Adelaide we’re going to stiff Sydney by trading all their possible picks away so they couldn’t trade anything to Sydney and just take dawson in the psd.

I wonder how Sydney would have reacted to that news. Can’t imagine they would be happy.
But how could they get him in the PSD without their first round pic?
They do sound desperate for the Horne fella.

Guess the #1 pick isn't going anywhere

Melbourne's 2022 first round and Norf's 2022 second round probably going to be close in value. So is basically JHF for 4th overall (likely becoming 6 after Daicos and Darcy bids) plus Crows 2022 next year. Don't think it would've taken too long to say no.

Edit: I want to live in the world where Norf have turned down this trade offer and then also take Dawson in the PSD after Crows don't get the deal done.

It all comes down to where you think crows pick falls next year.

if bottom 4, and you get pick 4 this year and pick 4 in next years draft (where Roos could go after the franchise kf they desperately need) I would do that 100%.

and I’m a massive jhf fan.

but the risk is if crows climb the ladder, and that’s a real real risk if jhf and dawson walk into your side.

Ah my bad I thought they were trading it out.
I guess if the North deal got done they would have given Sydney pick 4 then
Psd is separate from the national draft.

you cannot trade psd picks, and they are not affected by trading national draft picks.

pick 4 was included in the alleged offer.

the offer left no viable picks for trading with Sydney.

They can take the best non-father/son prospect this year. They're likely to be around the bottom of the ladder next year (is there really anyone worse than them atm?) so will have a shot at the best prospect in 2022 as well. Don't think it's a risk Norf can afford to take. They'll likely go for a safe rebuild rather than risking trading down for multiple (slightly) lower picks.

Also like you said, it's a risk if they help the Crows improve and end up with a pick in the mid-first round .

Would lol if it comes out CD got in touch with Dawson's manager asking how serious the Crows are if they're selling all their picks and risking him in the PSD.

North Melbourne rejected an astonishing offer of three first-round picks for the No.1 pick in this year’s draft, reports AFL Media.

Adelaide made the enormous bid this week, putting pick 4 on the table along with their 2022 first-round pick and Melbourne’s 2022 first-round pick, acquired this week.

Using the Draft Value Index, if the Crows and Demons finished in the same spots on the ladder in 2022, the offer would’ve been worth over 5000 draft points - essentially like having both the No.1 and No.4 picks combined.
