I absolutely want stephens. Would be a great addition to our future midfield. Great fit next to drew and rozee.

if his family is from Mildura do we know if there is any draw back to SA for him? Though we’ve been good at drawing players regardless of their hometown recently.

Essendon is a rooted football club. Most of their team is 180cm or smaller.

If Merrett has Lycett, Wines, Boak and co. to help free him up you'll see what he can do.

Exactly this getting him for just money no trade needed is probably why alot of us are super keen on Zakk.
But I also really rate him very Smooth mover with the ability to rack up the possession and use them well.

One of the main reasons I want Merrett is he is a ball winning, line breaking left footer. Changes the entire dynamic of our right footed midfield and would allow us to open up the fat side so much more (which would bring Amon/Motlop/Duursma into the game more).

Bonner didn't play midfield, he played wing/half forward. I'm talking about a true left footed midfielder that has the game go the other way the likes of which the Bulldogs set up through Bont, Macrae and Libba.
