Carlton sack Teague because they want an experienced, hard nosed, defensive minded coach. They then proceed to stuff around their dream candidate until he withdraws. People hang sh*t on the people running our club but fu** me Carlton are a comedy show.

And aren’t we just loving watching it? 🤣

We could pick up Dom Tyson for nothing. Would be free back up. He was okay in 2017 but behind Melbourne's very strong midfielders. Hardly played since getting to North as the started rebuilding with a new coach who wanted to play the kids. He might still have something to give, he's played 5 games since turning 25. Pretty much a Mason Wood type of back up or delist if he doesn't improve type of free hit.
Hahaha you would have to be joking right?

The management at the club know we are missing a few key pieces that need to be filled.

The problem is we don't have the purchasing power only having pick 11 and something around 46 and 60s

Having to replace Frawley , McKernan , Roberton , Dunstan , Carlisle you can imagine free agents will be looked at to fill the void again.

However whoever we pickup will be better than what we had this year , most of the players who are leaving this year were unable to get on the park.

We missed finals by 1 game, with a horrible fixture and a heap of injuries. Surely next year with a more favorable draw and even half the amount of injuries we walk into the finals??
Its easy to say we make finals , there is only 8 spots you know and other sides are improving too ,its not only us that will get better next year , i think we end up in the 8-10 bracket as only Geelong look like they maybe getting close to the end , the rest are all youngish sides like us

Melb, Bris, Port and Saints Top 4 next year.

Essendon, GWS, Bulldogs Sydney Geelong all vulnerable.

West Coast, Richmond gone

Hawthorn, Freo standing still

Disregard the rest.

Won't just be Geelong at danger of falling out.

Essendon - made finals with only 11 wins, smashed by all the top teams this year, won't have bottom 6 fixture next year, no forward line, best players all had great seasons yet only managed 11 wins so going to need a lot of improvement from lesser players to improve enough to get those extra wins.

Sydney - Salary cap issues means 1 or 2 best 22 players will fall out, still reliant on an ancient Franklin to kick a score, can Hickey back up a good season for the first time in his career at 31

GWS - will have top 6 fixture despite only 11 wins this year

Port - aren't a young team like the media like to believe and a lot of their best players are over 30 so a drop off from them will be coming, were flat track bullies this year which catches up to team, would be a big shock from them to miss finals but I'd have them as a huge candidate to fall from top 4 to 5th-8th spot based on their flat track status this year similar to what happened with West Coast the previous few years.

Whether or not we take advantage of this will be seen, but there will be a lot of vulnerable clubs who we could pass if we bother to turn up for the whole season.

They had a pretty bad run with injuries

Yes Buddy is a year older but they have McDonald who looks like he will be a very good player who will be better in his second season plus plenty of good young kids

GWS - will have top 6 fixture despite only 11 wins this year

Yeah they will but they wont be losing any talent over the pre season

Yes they have a few oldies but they are more likely to drop off in a couple of years not next year IMO ,, Boak played as good this year as he ever has

It's always difficult to forecast who will drop out of the eight, but teams always do. Over the past twelve years, there have been seven years where three teams have dropped out the next year, four years where two teams have dropped out and one year where four teams dropped out. Basically, at least two teams drop out every year, generally even more.

That's not to say that we will be the team that fills one of those spots, but there will be teams who drop out next year.

You'd hope thats true, but it is far from guaranteed.

Yep, others could improve and we end up with another draw that looks less appealing once the season starts. We could get double ups against Richmond, Carlton Gold Coast and Freo and all of them have improved rapidly and actually have a more difficult assignment. Sydney looked a walk-over at the start of the season and Richmond look impossible. No guarantees that we don't have worse injuries to more important players either. Rucks and mids look light on and our forward line is still very young and up and down.

Argument swings both ways surely.
You say other teams will improve but given our sh$t run with injuries. Sydney, Brisbane, Freo are young sides but I rate is higher.

We could jump up but we are relying on players stepping up. If we progress we have to get more out of Gresham, Hunter Clark, Coff, King etc. The older guys have reached their peak and guys like Ryder will be on the way down. We really need the kids to move up to the level Clark, Coff and Paton are at and then that next tier to step up to solid consistent footballers.

Injuries are a reality, we have to be able to wear them. I get the feeling the club is not even planning on going anywhere until they get hold of Ben King, they have taken their eyes off the prize and are all in on going in that direction. One thing the Saints don't do is move quickly. We'll be very young and have limited experienced depth next year. If we make finals heaps will have gone right and not much wrong.

Is that you Brad Johnson?
Wasn't that hilarious? Freo getting their arses handed to them by a banged up Saints outfit and Johnson singing their praises over us saying things like, 'they have Cerra to come back into their team'

The toss is still so bitter of the Saints whacking his Bulldogs. Get over it man, your club has won a flag, and ours still hasn't, let it go.
