This could be one of those win-win trades. Pick 6 and an early 2nd. Probably on trade what they get for Cerra for Neale. Effectively Cerra for Neale.

Would the Lions take 6 and an early 2nd? On trade their original first and a couple 2nd’s for a decent ready made mid? Go to the draft with pick 6.

I don’t know, I just get a good feeling this will work out for both parties.

Wtf would we want Cerra? Swap the reigning Brownlow medalist for a kid with promise.FMD

We did pretty well without him this year. Losing your best player is never a good thing but we can potentially turn this into a win. Or keep Lachie should we choose to, he's contracted for another two years.

From what I've seen from us over the last few years, we generally make sure a deal gets done if a player wants to move. However with two years left to go on a brownlow medalists contract it'd want to be a pretty damn good deal.

Too much smoke already for there not to be a fire in my opinion. No hard feelings, thanks for your time Lachie, you've been awesome, at just the right time.

Before anyone gets personal - put yourself in his partners shoes. Family is in W.A - moves to Qld where she knows no one, sells her business, has a baby and does all of the above during a pandemic. If she's struggling and wants to be with her family, nobody can fault her for that.

If he stays or goes, it'll be okay.

Yeah completely agree. I don’t think Lachie or anyone else could have predicted the situation they find themselves in (COVID, hard borders, etc.)

We’re all struggling in some way or form through the pandemic.

Premiership window closed unless we can pry out another A grader from somewhere.

BRAB I am going to need you to get a hold of yourself man.

If we can achieve what TBD just posted above, then we are arguably in a better position than with Neale. Early days brother.

It's disappointing, no denying it but maybe I'm just numb from last night so the blow is softened. We can turn it into a win and we've proven we're not the Lachie Neale club just like we're not the Harris Andrews club. Life will go on, Lachie or not.

Bloody hell, that's annoying. But this also gives us the chance to reshape our midfield. We're badly missing pace and size since Jarrod Berry hasn't stepped up yet and Bailey and Rayner aren't full-time midfielders. Pick 6 from Carlton from the inevitable Cerra trade would allow us to get Josh Goater to help fill that need.

Parker would be the replacement.

If we lose Neale and can't replace him we're in trouble

If we're able to get pick 6 then reinvest the money into Parker or Hopper then we're in a better place than we were before. 3 first rounders, get younger and more versatile. Definitely room to turn this into a win.

Tongue in cheek right? He signed the contract.

Seriously though, we don’t want to force him to stay, he’s not going to want to play for us.

Bruv if you're getting baited by me posting, it may be a long trade season for you.

Yeah like I said previously we can turn it into a positive if we get some good picks, however it may set us back a couple of years until the young blokes we have now are ready to shoulder the load full time and hit their peak.

The other option is, as others have said to stay in the window in the interim. That would probably require bringing in another top grade talent. If that doesn’t happen I don’t see how we don’t regress at least in the short term.
