What’s the bet Brisbane will take JVR & Hough with their first 2 picks

Why those two?

I am guessing Pussinbootz is partly suggesting that they may favor WA/SA/Vic Country players a bit like us?

I can see JVR potentially suiting them for a tall defender type with rebounding capacity that could also go forward around their second pick and Hough has been really good recently (including that really good league debut) and fits a need that lots of Brisbane supporters would suggest they have however I would think that there will likely be a really good midfielder type drop through at their first pick (potentially Johnson, Sinn, Draper or Roberts) that will mean that only one of JVR or Hough would be able to be taken with their second pick. I wouldn't discount forgotten man Bazzo as an option for their second pick as well if they really want a defender defender (though I think the flexibility gets JVR ahead of him), and there will be a few Vic Metro kids that can play off half back and have very good skills around those picks (I am thinking Wilmot in particular), which is apparently an area of need (according to Brisbane folk). It will be interesting to see of JVR and Hough which one goes first.

I guess I am saying it is pretty open at Brisbane's picks; their second pick is probably around the point where you focus in on a need, but the first pick is a "best available" type pick still.

I expect Hough to drop to 40+ given he has not been mentioned in any 1-30 rankings.

Give it a month I think. Modern Military has him at 27 currently and eDPS said after the U18 that if he does well in the next one he thinks he will have him in his Top 20. As with all of these things they can be a large range; I can totally see him going 40+ but he has also done some stuff to at least give himself a good chance to go in the 20s.

The key to getting him would be turning Tucker into Clark which frees up a second to get him.

Once news breaks that teams are looking at him, it’ll be a race to see which draft watcher puts him highest first.

Veteran move. Hint at it, but don’t commit until the Twomey article comes out.
I was thinking about dropping the 'Yeah this is one I've held on to because it came from a recruiter' after everyone else mentions him

Geez we do a shit job at hiding talent some times. Have a player who performed well enough to be noticed without starring in the u19s game and then have our WAFL affiliated club give him a League debut in the last game of the regular season and he smashes it so people start talking of him being first and second round worthy. Now we need Marc Webb to step up and find a way to lower his value in any future u19 games.

Johnson comes across as a bit of a dick in the footy yarn youtube channels videos, Erasmus seems a much stronger character.

So I'm not surprised.
I know he's old man who is a bit brash and comes across arrogant but i think it is over confidence. Matt probably has his old mans traits. Driven kid though.

Sometimes you need the swagger to hit the top of your potential.
As long as he can still do the team thing, all good.

Is he a country lad? I know a lot of genuinely good blokes who are high achievers that never quiet could come across as a nice, social guy due to how they're always on the go and looking for ways to better themselves. While they may appear brash, arrogant and dismissive at first, they'll usually be one of the first blokes you'll depend on when you get to know them better.

Add in the fact it's a young kid trying to evaluate the AFL media landscape on top of everything else a teenager deals with then it's no surprise some potential draftees come across in ways they may not intend too

Brady Hough has got some credentials, that's for sure,a natural sports person and his dream is to play AFL.
Has bolter written all over him IMO. Wouldn’t be surprised to see him go in the mid teens ala Starcevich/Georgiadis

Trade next year’s first to get Brisbane’s first pick this year?
I’d be more inclined to try and trade for their two picks in the teens (think it’s 14 & 18). We’d have to give up 8 and something else though - maybe a future 2nd. Would only be comfortable doing it though if we managed to get 6 from Carlton. 8 seems like an awkward spot (unless we’re deadset on Amiss). JVR, Williams & possibly Johnson will likely be available in the mid to late teens but unlikely the late 20’s (where our second/s will be).
