The main reason would be to get an extra quality draftee in this year with the age profile of our list as it is. Would depend largely on the homework that's been done on the player in question and the value compared to next year. Nothing wrong with keeping an open mind in the lead up to the draft. Can someone tell me the logic of trading up in this year's draft when A we don't have to and B giving up a prime asset in probably next year's FRP in a better draft from all reports ?
Hewett, Hollands, Hotton. This place is slowing down. So, let’s play a game. I just read a Phantom that had all the ‘H’ players still available at #11 (Ashcroft bid included). Yes I know, I joked about this before, but it actually could be reality. Humphrey was listed as our pick, followed by Hollands, Hewett, Hayes, Hustwaite and Hotton at 20.
So, the game is - which ‘H’ do you pick if we stay at 11 and have to pick a ‘H’. Your Top 3 in order.
Hewett, Humphrey, Hollands for mine.

You'd like to think if we were giving up a first next year there'd be a decent 2nd on its way back from one of the clubs expected to finish bottom 4. Geelong gave us their first for Tuohy and a second and only dropped a few spots.Fair points, I just don't want us to give up our first round pick next season, given I feel that after the first 3 or 4 selections, the top end of this draft seems relatively even
I will admit I am not a keen draft expert or watcher though.
It sounds like there are very mixed opinions of the recruiters on a bunch of players, and the orderI guess we will see, but suspect most recruiters will see things differently.
And next year our first pick will be in the 17-20 range anyway....The main reason would be to get an extra quality draftee in this year with the age profile of our list as it is. Hewett, Hollands, Hotton.
However... with Humphrey still on the board, I'd be betting a bunch of teams with picks in the mid-teens would be interested in trading for our pick (I just don't see him fitting us, but good value at that pick). So I'd be talking to the likes of Sydney and GWS about a trade, with the potential for picking up two of the H's - one of the 3 above and hopefully Hayes.
Gee, these guys do a power of work!
WAFL Player Focus: Elijah Hewett (Swan Districts)
THE FABLED speed-endurance mix is something many modern day midfielders aspire to enhance, and it is a trait Swan Districts talent Elijah Hewett weaponises. Three games into his WAFL League career, the solidly built ball winner has carried on from the bottom-age form which had him poised as...central.rookieme.com

Draft Guide supposed to be out today.Rookie Me aka AFL Draft Central team are incredible.
That's where I get 90% of my.....ummm.... my um...... that's where some people get a lot of their draftee content and opinions from.
Yes true hence anything is possible from 5-13 in this draft. Clubs like us are probably are going to wait till draft night depending if any of our most highly rated players look likely to drift down the order to our selection. It sounds like there are very mixed opinions of the recruiters on a bunch of players, and the order
RoBBertRobert Klomp zegt hallo.
Can someone remind Cal Twomey there are more teams picking in the draft than *? If I see another article on * pick 4 plans I'll go postal
Giants and North have pretty much already selected their players. Essendon have the first live pick. It's understandable why he's writing about it.Can someone remind Cal Twomey there are more teams picking in the draft than *? If I see another article on * pick 4 plans I'll go postal
* are flag favourites, naturally they will attract a lot of media interest this time of year......
I like the idea of that but looking at who holds those second round picks I can’t see any realistic reason why anyone would trade for our future second rounder until possibly GWS at pick 31I’m in favor of holding 10 and hoping one of the predicted top 8 slides and then trading our future 2nd to get another pick in the 20-25 range.
Going in with 3 picks under 30 plus securing acres and holding everyone we wanted to would be a great result.
Importantly, also means we hold onto our first for next year in a supposed strong draft.
Good pickup Bruce.RoBBert

Thanks, Callum.I'm so glad we are no longer in the running for off season champions.
