Been my fav all year. Just looks like a high floor high ceiling type player.Yep, like this kid.
Reckon we're way too Vic kid focused in terms of the draft.
Elijah Hewett Draft Profile
Swan Districts midfielder Elijah Hewett is an explosive athlete whose hard edge is part of a deadly arsenal of footballing weapons.central.rookieme.com

Why?Might be an unpopular opinion but I'd much rather we take Humphrey, Hewett or Hollands over Phillipou.
Hmm, will be interesting to see what happens.Humphrey is going to bolt up the order.
It sounds like all of Essendon, Gold Coast and Sydney (possible trade up?) are keen, and given the lack of X-factor at the top end he has that as a point of difference.
Like Sheezal he should come in and play as a deep small forward and then develop his midfield craft.
Also seems like the quintessential Dodoro selection, if they’re going to bypass Tsatas.
I think Tsatas would really add to the Bombers midfield mix and I’d take him if available at 4 but Dodoro often opts for (perceived) high upside flankers over meat and potatoes footballers. Myers over Palmer in 07.Hmm, will be interesting to see what happens.
Would Dodo really pass on Tsatas? Sounds like GC are very keen on Ginbey.
Humphrey could maybe get to #9 or #10 (10 or 11), where it might be much easier for Swans to get a trade done?
Your description of philipou correspinds to Carlton's greatest requirement for transition playersPhillipou looks like a great option as a 2nd or 3rd receiver - a guy who distributes the ball cleanly and effectively to other mids or to leading forwards.
So with the Ginbey speculation. I see it as follows.Hewett just projects as a natural footballer IMO. Sidebottom, Gibbs, Hartlett etc.
He’s going to come in an impact from year one and hopefully develop into an A-grader. Nice kicking skills, not quick but finds space easily. Makes snappy decisions.
If GC do take Ginbey he should be available at our first pick provided West Coast take Busslinger.
Good post.So with the Ginbey speculation. I see it as follows.
BRI. - Ashcroft
GWS - Cadman
NM - Wardlaw
NM - Sheezel
* - Tsatas
GC - Ginbey
HAW - Phillipou
GEE - Clark
WCE - Busslinger
STK - McKenzie
So, Hewett, Hayes, Humphrey and Hollands are all still available. I think WCE may panic and look to trade up for Hewett. 10 for 12 plus a sweetener. I would LOVE that trade to include their 20 pick. Maybe 10/29/F2 for 12/20/31. Getting 20 would put us in a great spot.
GWS could also look to trade up for Hayes but I think they now sit. All depends on WBD. I reckon they now take Hayes. MEL I think stay put for best available, SYD wait for Jefferson, GWS take best available mid. I think Humphrey actually slides almost out of the first day. He’s not a modern day footballer. I think it then goes like this -
(WCE) - Hewett
WBD - Hayes
(CAR) - Hollands
MEL - Cowan
SYD - Jefferson
* - Davey (GWS bid) Lose 23 to match.
GWS - Szybkowski
COL - Hotton
SYD - Humphrey
GWS - Keeler
GWS - Hustwaite
(Depending on what we get in a WCE trade)
#21 CAR - Barnett, Lemmey or George. Any fill a depth hole.
#26 CAR - Lemmey, Weddle, or Jones. Lemmey gone if we take Barnett.
#29/31 CAR - Ryan, Allen, Hagan, Dowling, Binns, Clarke, Burgiel, Teal. I really like Hagan or Teal.
#49 - Knobel or Foster or slider mid.
If it gets to this stage, we'd be able to trade with Sydney (say 11+45 for 15+18).So with the Ginbey speculation. I see it as follows.

I agree. Will be lots of moving places with clubs really backing some players and wanting to trade up to get them.Reckon it's going to be a very interesting Draft Night/s.
He's a small/midsized forward first and foremost.Someone tell me what position Humphrey best plays? Is it forward or mid?
Just seems like another Kemp pick, who to this day can't cement a spot because the club can't make up their mind where he should be playing. Risky pick imo.
Really thinking Kemp’s problem is his height. If he was a couple of centimetres shorter would have been developed so much better.Someone tell me what position Humphrey best plays? Is it forward or mid?

Is Ginbey really much of a slider if he gets to Pick 10?There will still be some major shifting to how sides see certain types and with likely swapping of picks still to come, so will tge draft order
At pick 10, I have no interest in Humphrey or Hollands
I would take any other likely slider including Phillipou or Ginbey
If no sliders, I would be keen on any of Hotton, Hewett, Hayes. All who could play next year, but are definitely needs in the medium to long term, as draftees should be viewed

Gold Coast might be keen early on and West Coast would have some interest, but 6 is about the top end of his range. Otherwise I can see him pushing to West Coast’s second pick if he isn’t taken early, and if they rate Hewett higher (and he isn’t taken) then I could see him going later on in the first round.
It’s probably a moot point if Gold Coast get him at 6 but I’d prefer Hewett or Phillipou if all three are available.
Don’t him at all though. Bit of early Elliott Yeo about him - starting as a half back and working his way up to the midfield to be a semi-permanent stoppage player.
High floor, decent ceiling… could say he’s a mezzanine type of player.Has a high floor, and a decent ceiling, a Crisp/Maynard type at the next level
I have Ginbeys from WA in my bloodlines. We're probably 20th cousins. On behalf of the family, I'm offended by "blunt axe". Hope he goes well wherever he lands. Don't think it will be with us.Gibney certainly is a blunt axe, that needs to work on his finesse, but with his size, speed, endurance and aggression, able to play multiple positions, I think many clubs will see him as a very good long term prospect that plays early
For rising star punters, get on him early to finish top 5

Why do they trade? Who are they after so desperately enough to do such a lopsided trade? Don’t see it.If it gets to this stage, we'd be able to trade with Sydney (say 11+45 for 15+18).
I’m hoping we see a lot more of Kemp Playing AFL games in 2023 - then we will have a much higher rating of Kemp by year’s endReally thinking Kemp’s problem is his height. If he was a couple of centimetres shorter would have been developed so much better.
Not like you to be funny Blunt Arrow.Don't be offended, good trait unless you are a Viking
