They can, but it very much looks like they won't.
2 rookie upgrades + 1 ND pick takes them to 38 Senior list, with 2 rookie spots available.

Wouldn’t be opposed to a straight swap of 11 for their F1 provided we find our way back into the top 30 somehow.

Plenty of players are exited if they don't follow game plans and or can't. Stocker may do well somewhere else which utilises his preferences and benefits perhaps from an improved level of fitness which may or may not eventuate - but not being able to run out a VFL level game is ...probably not...

I just don't see us wanting to drop out of the first round this year for an extra first rounder next year.
Could potentially do a couple of trades back to back to try and leverage the needs of multiple clubs.
11 to Adelaide for their future first. It's nominally in our favour if we assume they miss finals next year. I'd want to try and squeeze them for a little more, but they just don't have the resources to trade. Maybe a swap of future seconds or something as well?
Then take that future first and try to ship it to GWS or Sydney, either for their multiple teens picks, or for one first rounder this year and another next year.
First trade:
[11 + Future ~30] for
[Future ~7 + ~26]
Then:
Future ~7 for one of:
[14 + 17]
[15 + 18]
[14 + Future ~14]
[15 + Future ~12]
The two firsts this year could get us a combo like Hayes and Hotton/Hollands.
Or we take just one of those guys, but bank an extra pick in the teens next year - potential back to back picks in the 12-16 range.

I think we can either get him at 29 or move up to 20 something and take him if needed.

I seriously doubt Adelaide are wanting to trade into this draft.
Much more straight forward (and likely) to trade directly with Swans or Giants.
Swans apparently want Humprey, and are willing (wanting) to trade up high to get him. There's a way of the top 10 going that he slides and is available at our pick (especially if Phillipou gets taken).
So say #11 + #45 for #15 + #18 (tax to move up and get their guy is ~41).

Might be an unpopular opinion but I'd much rather we take Humphrey, Hewett or Hollands over Phillipou.

Hewett just projects as a natural footballer IMO. Sidebottom, Gibbs, Hartlett etc.
He’s going to come in an impact from year one and hopefully develop into an A-grader. Nice kicking skills, not quick but finds space easily. Makes snappy decisions.
If GC do take Ginbey he should be available at our first pick provided West Coast take Busslinger.

Humphrey is going to bolt up the order.
It sounds like all of Essendon, Gold Coast and Sydney (possible trade up?) are keen, and given the lack of X-factor at the top end he has that as a point of difference.
Like Sheezal he should come in and play as a deep small forward and then develop his midfield craft.
Also seems like the quintessential Dodoro selection, if they’re going to bypass Tsatas.
