We usually do a GD Draft thread to keep the stuff out if the Drafting and trading thread.

WE will close that one for now and reopen after the draft.

Ive copied the last 25 posts over to keep the chat going.

All Draft talk in here now please.

I wonder if they debated over drafting Thomas Scully instead of Phoenix Foster...

Statistically Scully was doing better, but I did notice he does tend to take two grab marks sometimes...

Knightmare on Twitter said he thinks Phoenix would be best developed in defence given his attributes FWIW

Poor old Knightmare...has lost his relevance I think

Dempsey our only rookie
Osca 2nd rookie

2 more cat a rookies to come plus ted as cat b

Any idea's on who we take... Another tall? A local?

Who is the best that missed?

No matter what I hope we invite a few DFA's to be in or VFL. If like them next year then we can just put them straight on

Club thinking that Neale might be on the move next year?
Hope not.. but insurance perhaps.. or they play him back like SDK

Any of Sam Gilbey, Jason Gilbee, Jaiden Magor, Luke Teal, Max Kirally, Harper Montgomery please rookie draft!

Some high production ball users... have a higher chance of making it in rookie.

Must be harder to get one every year. Can't seem to avoid leaks.
So true. It’s very difficult it seems to keep anything quiet. The media seemed to get so many things right last night.

I mean Peter Ryan reported Close before that pick. Our picks the last few years seem to have been known/linked. Albeit Dempsey was a true surprise.

The jungle drums are beating for Frank this year.

Definitely a tall back. Would love phillips, i think northam could work there might be an option.we will need to rookie a development ruck year or next as well

In terms of missed players, szybkowski has his fans, jed hagan, blake drury. I like phillips, northam, verrall,so theres a few.

Scully has more raw talent but can be quite soft at times.

I reckon we would have taken lemmey but he didnt get through

Well, based on watching 6 minutes of highlights, I can unequivocally say we Won The Draft yet again.

But seriously Clark is perfect for us. ✅

Phoenix looks a classic Wells Ruck-Fwd project to fill in behind Stanley, Ceglar and Hawkins. ✅

I'm also pretty confident that O.Henry and Bruhn will be better than the players taken around the picks we traded to get them.

So what players are still around??
Ollie Northam & Jed Hagan are known to most of us.
But we also have Seth Campbell Luke Teal Lachie Scannell Archie Lovelock and Will Verrall available.
But i'll take a swing at rough outsider in...
Centrals Captain and legitimate swingman Brodie Tuck who is available today. Would make a great addition.
Character:whitecheck: Leadership :whitecheck:Tough:whitecheck: Can play FOR? BACK? even pinch hit RUCK?:whitecheck:
Led/Captained a pretty crappy Centrals team this year. Worth a swing? maybe...

Been having a read of the players we're linked to that are still available. Not many will agree with me, but I want Archie Lovelock. Just seems a very high impact player, and his bday is 19th Dec. Some more info:

SA young gun Archie Lovelock has enhanced his draft standing with a commanding performance in Glenelg’s SANFL U18 Torrens University Cup grand final win.

The 178cm prospect tallied 35 disposals, 12 contested possessions, 11 score involvements and a game-high 166 Champion Data ranking points in a prolific display to lead the Bays to a come-from-behind victory at Adelaide Oval.

In a standout season, Lovelock has impressed through the midfield and inside-50, with his brilliant hands and ability to find a teammate under pressure – and that was no different on Friday night as he claimed the Alan Stewart Medal as best afield.

Lovelock worked tirelessly in the first half to keep his side in the game, with the help of North Adelaide’s second-quarter wastefulness.

But, with the game on the line, it was after half-time when the 18-year-old really proved his worth.

The Sacred Heart College student marked strongly inside-50 and booted the first goal of the second half, before marking on the lead again minutes later and finding teammate Chester Forster in the pocket who kicked another.

North Adelaide, on the back of a strong showing from fellow draft prospect Billy Dowling, still led by five points at the final change, but Lovelock produced one of the quarters of the season, taking control of the game late and not letting go.

In the fourth term, he had 11 disposals, six score involvements, four contested possessions, three inside 50s and a huge contested intercept mark to thwart a late Roosters foray forward.

If we take just the one rookie instead of the two we'll have a mid-season spot available

We avoided the mid season draft twice because we didn't like the principle of taking a player from their state league club mid season and potentially delisting them 6 months later. Now that we have actually done it and it played out like that could see us just using both picks today. At least the player gets a full pre season with the club that way. If you have one of the first picks in the mid season you might get a jump on a Kelly or Stengle type but not 15 deep when we are taking a pick.

Will we have a pick at the mid-season draft?

Only if we pass on one of our two rookie picks and leave a spot open.
Id fill the 2 rookie spots.
If we get an lti early in the year we can create an msd slot that way anyway.

Strong overhead for his size, which is a pretty consistent Wells trait.
