looks like crows will only take their father son and no other live picks.
think so, we only have 1 list spot open (Michalanney) after butts and strachan upgraded (they have to be as they can't be on the rookie list any longer) and we will have 1 rookie list spot I think if we retake Turner...like you guys, it will be a quiet draft by the looks of things

Trade paperwork lodged. The Brisbane Lions trade its Round Three Selection (56) to the Adelaide Crows for its Future Round Four Selection (tied to Fremantle).
Adelaide also did this pick trade

Pick 59 and a future second round selection from North Melbourne for Pick 23.

So they now have picks 46, 56 and 59.
They must reckon Michalanney is going cheap.

Knightmare has them matching him at pick 31 which is 606 pts - 197 pts discount = 409 pts.

2023 Rd 4 Freo - the Brisbane trade is tied to Freo would be around pick 68 next year and NM 2023 Rd 2 should be around pick 20.

This is what has happened to their pts situation. They will take Michalanney and then use pick 59. Will they try and pinch someone we are eyeing at pick 60? Started with 1146 pts ended up with 638 pts after the 2 trades.

not the worst one to get out of for sure, outside the top 10ish

Perhaps the Crows were confident that Michalanney would be called before their first pick and doing this trade meant they got their man and a future second as well.
It means that Port could have a little less competition for South Aussies in the draft pool, since the Crows tend to target them as a general rule.

Brisbane must be hearing that Ashcroft won't be bid on at pick 1, or Fletcher will be much later than Knightmare's tip of pick 15, because even with the 20% discount, and going up to the maximum 700 points deficit, they now don't have enough points to cover bids at 1 and 15.

GWS are so active every trade and draft period that its probably not good business to bid on Ashcroft at pick 1. Build up some goodwill. I reckon North will bid on Aschroft at pick 2. It saves them (3000x0.80%) 2400 - 2014 (2517x0.80%) = 386 pts.

Anyway unlike the crows, they know having Cadman at pick 1 means he gets a $10,000 bonus cash prize from draft sponsor NAB and a 12 month ambassador agreement.

The Lions have confirmed three players – Nakia Cockatoo, Ryan Lester and Connor McFadyen – have been delisted heading into the upcoming Draft period.

But the club says it is “committed” to reselecting both Lester and Cockatoo through the Rookie Draft at the end of the year.

There you go Ford Fairlane, Nakia Cockatoo is free.

A real quirk that one - father sons from random SANFL teams should've petered out long ago for the Crows, but Jim sired Max when he was in his late 40s.

Retired in 86. Yet we weren't allowed to get Borlase as father son just a joke. Had a non port and cow supporter really confused when they heard it .

Dont think ive seen a more uneventful/boring draft hope in a while. Everyone seems to be more than happy to trade out this year for futures. Not an avid draft follower but it seems like A lot of father son/academy/re rookie going to go on and somewhat 40 new players will get picked up probably more mature agers in recent times then kids

So his old man’s 211 SANFL games were exclusive of Escort/Foundation Cup games, or is there some other function at play, such as being born in Egypt?

Nothing sus!

Yeah I’ve still have heard no explanation about how he’s supposedly eligible.

I posed the question on the crows board a while back and they were adamant he was eligible but no one was willing to explain how.

Far out how shallow is this draft? it's like everyone is running for the hills by pick 20.
From what I've read on the D&T board, the difference between pick ~15 to pick ~45 is basically zero, and any ranking you see in that range is so subjective that it becomes practically useless. The kids in that range have both reasons they could be legit players, as well as serious flaws that could make them a massive bust.

Which means that if you've got pick 15 you'll feel like you're reaching no matter who you pick, and by 45 you could well be grabbing a bargain.

I think it's the uncertainty, rather than the actual quality that's the problem.

Probably another reason Geelong wouldn't let Esava out for 33 though.
