I'm representing us in a Phantom on the draft board at the moment. Have taken Mackenzie at 7 and Charlie Clarke at 27 (pushed out after bids).

Traded 3 picks to land Brisbanes 35. Have two picks in the 30's coming up soon.

If this happens in the real draft I'm intrigued about who we might select. I'm not set on any 1 player for either of those picks yet.
Harry Sheezel from hiding please…:moustache::moustache:
Are George or jones still available?
Realistically magor and lemmey would be nice

But replace Kosi with Ramsden and then it looks a hell of a lot better. I have high hopes for Ramsden.

Ramsden has played one great game in the VFL, and has shown some nice flashes in others. Let's see if he cracks some games this coming season before heralding him as the saviour.

I think it's the other way around. Some players are made to look better because of who they are playing with and I think McKenzie is a classic example of that. McKenzie is the third guy you'd worry about playing against Sandy and he benefits from that a lot.

I think that is mainly due to the other two taking the limelight. Mackenzie is a complimentary midfielder IMO, who would slot in seamlessly with Ward, Newcombe, Finn and co.

He is a player that can do everything and is an excellent kick, to match his decent size and athletic attributes. Those attributes aren't somehow made to look better because he's playing alongside Ashcroft and Tsatas.

I am reading into what Twomey says on his podcasts and on the AFL website. He basically parrots the enthusiasm recruiters have for different prospects. He was gushing over ed Allan months ago as a smokey and now he is in the top 20 mix.

He is very enthusiastic about Humphrey being one of the best players in the pool and strongly links him to essendons pick. Mackenzie he always places toward the back end of top 10 convos. Phillipou he said today has interest between picks 4 and 8 but he doesn't seem like a hawthorn pick.

So I think we take humper. Just speculation
I feel the club will go with the best player available, an they have to be able kick extremely well.

Interesting that the only person to rise to the challenge of making a case against Philipou is someone who is clearly a fan.

However, the majority of posters clearly prefer others (Tsatas, if available and Mackenzie have the bulk of the support). I would really like to know what makes Tsatas, Mackenzie or anyone else for that matter, a better pickup than Philipou.
Aside from the George kid - just put him to the side, the Poo is head and shoulders, the best talent in this years draft. Iz you not comprehending the compenstation? what‘s a matter for you?

He’s Luke Hodge MK 2, only bigger and quicker, it doesn’t get more emphatic than that - There is no comparing to anything - it’s offensive to football comparing him to anyone in his draft class. The Poo is the shit Boo. You diggin ?

Phillipou can go from Bont getting it, exploding away, giving it for a one two and slotting it from 50 to a genuine 240kg plodder who hasn’t got an interest or care to be there. His best and worst is a huge gap.

Can someone point me to the champs games that I need to watch the poo?

I watched SA vs Vic M and he had a big disposal count first quarter but I thought d'aloia was far more impactful in that quarter. Thought poo was good but far from the second coming.

Any other games that give a picture of his upside?

You don’t think getting the weakest midfield matchup most weeks helps?

He's demonstrated that he's an excellent kick, he's also a good size and is quick.

Matchups may affect how often he gets the ball, but then again you could argue that Ashcroft being so ball dominant meant that Mackenzie had to play a supportive role. Either way I don't see how a matchup affects his ability to kick, or affect the fact he's a decent size and is athletic.

I think I'll take my comments about Clark's kicking back after watching some more footage.

Can any resident draft watchers further assuage my fears? I'd like to think that we will have a winner with any of the options that we will have available to us

His kicking in traffic is what elevates him in comparison to others likely to go in the top 10

"Clubs had until last Wednesday to place their initial nominations for father-son and Academy selections. "

From the word initial, looks like there's some other opportunities but certainly doesn't look like Vickery or Lawrence are in our National Draft hitlist at this point.

At the Academy vs Collingwood VFA game I noted Clark missed 20-30 metres targets at least three times in the pre-game warm up. He might have been nervous but it is my major concern. On the other hand Munkara was sublime, although I do worry about whether he has the commitment to succeed as a professional footballer. Apart from Ashcroft, the most consistent performer in the NAB League and NAB Champs games I attended, Mackenzie was the standout. Wardlaw is a gun based on his game against Collingwood and Hewitt could be a gun based on his game against Vic Metro. My bolter is Hollands based on his explosive first quarter against Vic Metro and his determination and fight to win the 2kms time trial.
